Does it make you a coward if someone sucker punches you, but you don't fight back?

I was minding my own business today whilst on my mobile and some guy walking pass me was provoking me looking for trouble, he sucker punched me, he punched me 5 more times to the face, 2 on my left bottom cheek, 1 on my upper right cheek, 1 on my forehead and 1 behind my head as I was walking away, when he was hitting me I just shoved him back because I did not want to get into trouble by the police if I retaliate and hit him back, knowing myself that my punches were a lot harder than his were, he was taller than me but skinny and lanky, I'm shorter than him but I work out and stay strong/fit. I could take the punches, it wasn't hard enough to knock me out or cause any serious injuries, about 30 mins later my bottom inner cheek ached a little, but its ok because it will heal in a couple of days. Right now I'm sitting here thinking about it and its getting me really worked up and I regretted not hitting him back, but knowing if I did punch him in the face, he might of actually get knocked out and hit his head on the pavement or have a bloody nose and I would be looking like the aggressor because there were no scratches on me. So does this make me a coward if I took the punches and walked away without any issues? or does it make me a coward because I didn't fight back?

You did the right thing by walking away as much as you may have wanted to fight back. If this guy is bold enough to walk up to a random stranger and hit them in the face, this guy is pretty much capable of doing anything. If you was to hit him, he could of pulled out a knife or gun. These days you just never know. You did the right thing by just walking off and leaving him be. That shows TRUE strength. because your feeding into his ego. I am sorry that you had to go through that, that is so messed up. Try avoiding that area where this happened for awhile.

You react to the situation as you see fit at the time, there is no right and wrong and nobody can tell you what the best course of action would be. You have to judge it as you see it and you did that. You walked away and nobody died or got seriously injured, I'd call that a result.

Don't get bogged down in macho expectations of yourself. You live to fight another day.

It's not about cowardice, it's about knowing which fights you can win, and which you can't. Given that you consider yourself a hard puncher, you're allowed to defend yourself. If he wants to go to the police you can laugh in his face. It's on him to prove you committed an offence.

I know I am allowed to defend myself, but like I already have said, if I were to punch him in the face, he might have gotten knocked out and hit his head on the concrete pavement. I only just pushed him back and kept distance, but he kept lunging forward, his body language was almost like how a typical bully would move by thinking he is big and all.

It's water under the bridge now, no harm no foul. But from his actions I'd say he's one of those guys who only understands the language of fists. Okay, if he cracks his skull open, some sense might get in.

You did the right thing 😃😃 Don't let anyone call you a coward l, it would be easier to hit him back, but the bigger person has True strength not to resist. That is true power.

Well, it's good that you didn't punch back, you don't want to go to jail for some douchebag. But you should have at least called the police.

I did go to the police station after, to report the incident on what had happened, but I didn't want to make a formal complaint, because it would be too much of a hassle and I will be on holidays in about 1 week, so I'm just trying to enjoy the rest of my week. :)

I fell in love with one of the greatest loves of my life only after seeing him turn down a fight.

I had always disliked him for his tendencies to get involved in fights. But we were lured out into the backwoods to buy some weed and when we got there it was an ambush waiting to happen.

This was in high school and the only reason they gave him their location was at the mention of my name. These guys were linked to a Latin gang and always harassed me.

When we arrived me future boyfriend had a hunting knife wedged in the seat fold between him and me, a shot gun and a rifle. Once we realized it was an ambush he told me to use the shot gun if I needed to and was about to get out. by the way I had never shot any gun and barely knew a shot gun from a rifle.

I begged him not to get out of the truck. And then once he rolled down his window I begged the men not to do 'this' with me there.

No shame in that game. No shame in not fighting. Fighting is shameful.
