Do you consider yourself open minded?

Do you consider yourself open minded? Why?

I do because when someone makes judgement on me I always ask why they think that. I listen to it, consider it and if it makes sense I will work on it (if I hate that it is true), or I will accept it (because I think it is important that I do). Depending on what was said.

Also, I take those for who they are when they are being honest with themselves.

Well, yes I do think I'm open minded- but then that may just be me being closed minded.

I actually thought recently, I may be less openminded then I thought. its just I tend to be accepting of a lot of things, a lot of people are not accepting of. so by contrast I appear to be openminded. but then there are many things people take for granted as not being a big deal, that I find entirely unethical.

so I think in fact, I'm odd, and I'm patient. but not necessarily openminded.

but I do try to do what you say you do regarding myself.. I will think of what I may be doing wrong, even if I hate thinking of myself in that way. and I will within my power, work towards change for better.

i suspect life is one long daily honest assessment of how you suck in various ways, along with how you are awesome in various ways. and if you are healthy, you have enough awesomeness, top pull you through the humiliation required to take a serious look at the ways you suck.

but my ethics surpass my daily behavior foibles. I tend to stick hardcore to my beliefs.. but then what else is a belief if you do not believe in it.

Yep - very.

I always analyze both sides of something, and develop an insight for the different ideas.

Like, if a girl is slutty - most people will write her off as a slut - how I am, I'd think, yea what she does isn't healthy, but there's probably more to it.

There's always more to something, always some deeper more profound meaning, always some conclusion that accounts for something being ultimately accepted if you have the prowess to dig deep enough.

Likewise, I love being an independent thinker; not allowing society or anyone else to think for me, to be able to apply my own thoughts even if everyone else disagrees -

Yes, I am very open minded. It took me a long time to learn that there is A way as opposed to THE way of doing things. I am not phased by subjects like gay marriage, interracial dating or legalizing marijuana for medical reasons. The world is constantly evolving and if I am going to assimilate to it, I need to open my mind more deeply.

I'm quite open minded, within reason. As they say, "Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out".

At times I may appear less than open minded, especially when confronted with issues concerning religion, because some subjects I have discussed to the point where I've heard pretty much every reasonable argument for or against multiple times and have long since made up my mind about that topic. In the absence of new arguments any discussion will simply be a repetition of a discussion I've already had, and experience has taught me new arguments are so rare that (at risk of being wrong on rare occasions) the best use of my time is to assume no such argument will be presented.

I consider myself understanding and accepting. I rarely use the terms open or close minded. IMO they are overused and used way to loosely. Most people use these terms against people who don't agree with them.

I simply see a "close minded" person as a person with a perspective and he/she feels very strongly about it. A person may be very "open minded" with just about everything but very "close minded" about his/her religion, political beliefs, and sexuality.

I definitely consider myself open minded.  I've been told I am a very open minded person.  And I try to continue to be so, like the saying goes "your mind is like a parachute, it works best when its open"... Also, I notice when people are not open minded, so I think this speaks to my necessity for it.

Yes, I like to consider things from all the angles and not just think that what I know is right or wrong because everything is up to your perspective.

In other words I am so open minded my brain might fall out.

Yeah I'm open minded  although on somethings I'm pretty set but I'm not outright opposed to new ideas I'll always hear new ideas

I don't think so. I'm pretty stubborn most of the time. The less comfortable I am with something or the less I know about it the more open minded I am though.
