And why do you think some guys choose that profession?
I personally wouldn't want to be one.
From the College of Physicians and Surgeons in my province:
"A personal, non-professional relationship can affect many aspects of medical care. Whenever a physician treats someone with whom the physician has a personal relationship, there is a risk that the personal relationship will affect the physician’s ability to provide good quality care. Similarly, it can be very difficult for a physician to maintain clinical objectivity when providing medical care for him or herself. Treatment of a family member, or self-treatment, may also prevent the family member (or the physician) from developing a good relationship with his or her own doctor.
Treating a family member more than episodically may also give rise to a physician-patient relationship; such that the physician will be subject to other responsibilities inherent in a physician-patient relationship, including requirements for terminating the physician-patient relationship, and the provisions in the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA) related to sexual abuse.
For these reasons, physicians should generally refrain from treating themselves or family members."

So yeah, doctors aren't allowed to act as health care providers for family members except in a few specific cases (for example, in an emergency if there isn't someone else available to provide care).
Further, I wouldn't want a family member to be my doctor (gynecologist or even just a GP/family doctor). Besides the uncomfortableness of them potentially having to examine parts of your body that you wouldn't want them to see, I share a lot of confidential information with my doctor that I wouldn't be comfortable sharing with a family member.
A month or so ago I met a guy who had a weird ex who's gynecologist was her father. In the group,I was really schocked to hear this.
I mean, your gynecologist has to know everything about your sex life... and who the hell tells that kind of stuff to their parents in details?
Imagine her boyfriend fingers her so roughly he makes her bleed... bleed to the point for her to ask herself if everything is OK with her. She had to go to the gynecologist.
Would she just go and say during dinner "oh, dad, I need a check up latter 'cause jack hurt me last night"...
I mean: REALLY?!?!?!
...
Or imagine the boy goes to her house to meet her parents. I can't help but picture this scene with the father having mental pictures, because he's constantly reminded of his daughter sex life because her partner is right in fron of him...
I can't stop myself from creating these ridiculous scenarios.
I think that your father can be your gynecologist if your pregnant or so, it'd be cute, the grandfather accompanying the grandson growth and such.
But as a teenager or young adult, I don't think that's such a good idea; gynecologist are doctors who take our doubts away and who we can talk to about our sex life. And that just isn't the type of relationship you'd want to have with a parent.
1. Fu@k No, 2. Why they choose this profession, I don't know. Why a man would want to look at snatches all day is a mystery to me.
I will say this ...NO MAN should be allowed to be a gyno doc ...let alone your father...there are many other areas of medicine men can get into...and more and more women are choosing female gyno docs...there is no way a man can know what women experience such as periods and child birth so men need to choose other areas of medicine..IMHO
Many states carry Conflict of Interest policies about families being cared for or represented by other family members. I think you'd find yourself in that kind of situation here.

I wouldn't mostly because I wouldn't want my father to know about my sex life. I wouldn't have any man as my gyno, I'd feel very uncomfortable with anyone looking up there, let alone a man and let alone any family member.
I think guys choose the profession because they get paid sh*tloads of money for it. I don't think they take that job for pleasure because they see ones from all kind of women with all kinds of problems. It's not just hot 20-somethings with no diseases coming in for routine check-ups.
Hell...no...that would be werid for your dad to look at your insides down there...that would moldestion...LOL..anyways...I've only know of one guy that went 2 be a gynofor a living...and know he's gay...probaly because he sees vaginas all...da time & he doesn't think 2 much of it anymore...it doesn't excite him from seeing it 2 much...I guess...
A relative or any person you know should not be your doctor and especially your gynecologist. This has to do with your private life and your right to keep your medical history secret if you want to. And male gynecologist are often better than female ones. Because male gynecologists have to be more careful when they say and explain things because they can't say "you know how it is" they actually have to explain why. I would recommend women to get a male gyno, in my opinion they are better.
There is something shi88y wrong with you. My two cents. Some dr needs a job or they fall into that specialty. It is like why are there some dentist or eye doctor and would I like my own father or husband to do my plastic surgery? Weird and sick question.
No, never. As to why some guys choose it? Same reasons as to why a person might want to be a brain surgeon, or a doctor who specializes in knees and legs. It comes down to personal interests and the vagina still stays a part of the human body, even if there's a sexual connotation to it. Some people just aren't as fazed about it and see it like any other body part.
What kind of question is this... gynos know they're not going to be examining their own kids.
A lot of OB/GYNs go into that field because they find it really gratifying to be part of the birth of a baby, whether it's in the fertility clinic or during actual labor. Gynecologists don't spend all day fingering teenagers. Christ. Besides, when doctors are at work, vaginas and penises become just like any other body part.
o_O; NO.
Perverts. XD I have no idea why they would. Maybe they enjoy it.
Is this a serious question? No I wouldn't and if I did I would be extremely weird and creepy.
guys won't choose that profession because its a turn off to smell/see vaginal infections , see birth and see STD's down there. I am studying to be an ob/gyn and its gross for me to even know what I have to do in the future but I love kids and women's health.
Yes it's a serious question, don't like it then don't answer it. Why would you want to answer stupid questions.
No,I would not want any relative to be my gyno.
I don't see anything wrong with a man being a gyno.A vagina is still part of the human body.
ew no that is disgusting and wrong on so many levels.
That's sick and a quick way to mess up with your daughter's future relationships with all men.
i would not let my dad be my doctor period. that's really unprofessional.
No...I would not want my dad looking between my legs! Its not like there aren't other doctors to go to.
I wouldn't, absolutely not. You have to feel comfortable talking about your sex life, and I wouldn't be if it was my dad. Haha!
Wtf is wrong with you?!? NO I don't even talk to my dad and even if I did that is sick if he was my gynecologist!
Um no. My dad's a butcher. He can make me steak any time. He cannot go poking around my vagina.
You have quite an imagination.. I will say yes because it would save me the trip to the doc..
Hell no that would be terrible.
The f***... No.
No that's so f***ing sick
