yeah its an exciting response and may just show his mood. Guys don't think about putting meaning behind basic conversation, its just that you may have thought too much about it.
Its good that he's comfortable with speaking to you and not treating you like you have less purpose.
Have you considered it may have just been a typo or an autocorrect or something? Maybe he just meant to say "HEY!"
But even if he meant to type it, doesn't really mean much. I think you're overanalyzing.
