She said she lost her phone. Legit excuse or not?

a girl I was supposed to go on a date with about 2 weeks or so ago, never happened...for a couple of reasons. I overslept andddd she had stopped replying to messages a couple days before hand. I saw her for the first time in 3 weeks, today, and she said that she lost her phone and hasn't been able to get one since. it's hard to know if she was telling the truth because she wasn't allowed to have her phone on her when I was talking to her tonight, so even if she was telling the truth, I wouldn't have known.

is this a legit. excuse for why she didn't go on the date with me?

If she had no intention to be a flake, and really had lost her phone, she would have contacted you through another channel (email, Facebook,...) to tell you.

It took three weeks and an unplanned meeting for her to tell you this, so it's more than probably a lie

Ok. Then she has friends, she could have contacted you through her friends' phones, or whatever. Or even tried to see you in real, to tell you. Or if she didn't know anything at all about you, then she just got cold feet. Move on.

Girls lie for all sorts of reasons. Maybe she just got cold feet.

The real question is whether you want to give her a second chance or not.

I smell a fake.

Don't get me wrong, I lose my phone just about every other day (ask my bf) and it's gone for hours and hours. But I always contact him via FB and tell him it's gone.

But I smell a fake with this girl.
