In My Opinion We Ruined A Good Thing
|
First off, I apologize if someone has already pointed any of this out, but I haven't seen any mention of it. I've been on GirlsAskGuys for a while. I'm not sure when the website was started but it's been a little less than a year since I joined. It used to be just a bunch of people trying to help each other out with genuine and helpful suggestions and it worked. I think with the help of people like Genesis, Marisa, and Homer, to name a few, many people got the answers they were searching for, and those answers were the right ones. Now however, I feel the motivation for our question answerers has changed. When the new Xper points system came out I was excited. It was neat to see how we ranked against other people who were also participating in helping people in their lives. It didn't take long for me to notice a problem though. Many people just started spamming answers on every single question whether or not they truly had anything legitimate or genuine to say. How else could they have accumulated so many points in so little time. I don't know how much I'd trust any of the answers or opinions of any of the newer higher ranking members because I don't believe their motivations are to help people who are confused in their relationships anymore. I think the motivations have shifted towards becoming a top ranking member for a lot of the people who frequent this site. I'm sure there are still people who are dedicated to getting the right information to the right people, but it is hard for me to tell who those people are and who just wants to say the first thing that comes to mind whether or not they have personal experience with the situation. I know the admins were trying to make things a little fun by making a ranking system, but I don't think it turned out the way it should have, and I'm disappointed that the quality of responses may not be as great as it was half a year ago.
