Why Ginny deserves Harry Potter

The chosen one and the girl who never truly gave up on him.

I just saw a my take about why Harry should've ended up with Cho and am thoroughly disturbed because in what universe does Harry Potter not love Ginny Weasley? A lot of the hate on Ginny comes from people who didn't read the books. I am sure Bonnie Wright did her best to represent Ginny Weasley and I fully blame the producers. They in no way correctly represented harry and ginny's relationship and their relationship is so much more than what the movies show. So unless you read the books, sit down and shut your cakehole.

Why Ginny deserves Harry Potter.

She is his Lois Lane: While Harry was out defeating Voldemort, Ginny held down the fort. She kept the rebellion at Hogwarts alive, restarted Dumbledore's Army to defy Snape's regime, along with Neville and Luna, she broke into Snape's office and attempted to steal the sword of Gryffindor. But was caught while bringing it down the stairs and all three of them were tortured for it.

She is nice: Ginny accepted Luna when no one else did and for who she was not for what other people wanted to be. Yes she made fun of Fleur but she was not the only one. Molly Weasley did the same. In the beginning of her and Bill's marriage, ginny got protective of her brother but when Fleur accepted Bill with his scars as a result of the battle of Hogwarts, she accepted her.

Harry and Cho had zero chemistry: They went on one date and it went downhill very badly. Cho waa not over the death of Cedric. By the end of the date, harry felt miserable even wishing he and cho's date had gone more like the couple next to them. Harry and Ginny's relationship proves there is a difference between having a crush and true love.

Love is not always at first sight: There are tons of couples that didn't fall in lve at first sight. Rapunzel and Eugene being one of them. Just because it is not at first sight does not mean you shouldn't give it a chance.

Cho was still in love with Cedric: and felt very guilty for kissing Harry. I won't say Cho was weak-willed or anything. Its normal for her to still be upset after Cedric but she was not read for dating. I don't think she ever liked him in a bf/gf way. I think she saw harry as a way to get her mind off Cedric.

Ginny was just as reckless as he was: Ginny would be the obvious choice because Harry's lifestyle was wreckless and dangerous. And she was strong enough to deal with it.

They will always have their connection through Voldemort: She was possesed by voldemort. Harry had a piece of voldemort's soul in his head. She could relate to him in more ways than Cho could. She dealt with more life threatening things than Cho.

Why Ginny deserves Harry Potter

She puts up with harry's crap: She is witty, independent, stable and is the only one who is able to pull him out of his occasional bad moods.

Harry and Hermione have a totally platonic relationship: Harry and Hermione love each but it is a brother/sister kind of love. It would have been way to stereotypical if the main guy ends up with the main girl. The only things that Harry sucked at was occlumency and potions. It was nice for the second most important guy to get the most important girl.

She is not just a fangirl: Yes she was a fangirl till her 3rd year or so. She worshiped the “Boy-Who-Lived” and did not see the real Harry. But over the years she definitely grew out of this; she fought for her own happiness and did not wait around. After getting to know him she saw the real Harry and was in love with the boy without the scar. Ginny can keep him grounded, make him feel himself, feel as if he is “just Harry”. I mean… this is the main point of Ginny’s story: having a crush/infatuation —> realizing your happiness depends on you and you alone —> getting over the crush —> actually falling in love for real with the person behind the celebrity mask. If you missed the main aspect of her character then I’m sorry but you need to reread the books.

Ginny is not a mary-sue: She is very relatable and has tons of flaws. While I definitely understand why people would say she is a mary-sue, I don’t think she falls to that category. She is pretty, athletic, witty, independent and popular. Yet I don’t see why being good at things and also being pretty would make anyone a mary-sue? I mean I think that’s pretty much a realistic combination for a girl. She also has flaws that are hard to deal with. She has a terrible temper, seriously her red hair definitely matches her temper and is basically a less-obnoxious version of Fred and George; she likes to do pranks and can go over-the-top when she thinks she is only joking. She is also naive because voldemort was able to get her to trust his younger self. When she is angry she can also say pretty hurtful things to people too.

Why Ginny deserves Harry Potter

I was so sad that they didn't include this part in the movie. It was one of the saddest parts of the book. Harry's longing for Ginny while he was out looking for horcruxes was such a testament to his wishes for her saftey.

Love is not about who deserves who: Love is about feelings; you can’t control who you fall in love with. If Harry loves her and if she makes him happy (we know she does) then why wouldn’t she “deserve” him as you say? None of them are a trophy; if they are in love they sure as hell should be together and I shall ship them like FedEx. If Ginny makes him happy I will ship them.

I believe their relationship was always there in a subtle way: Since it was really subtle till I would say the 5th (or even 6th) book it’s definitely not predictable but nor does it lacks development. Throughout the story we get Ginny becoming more comfortable with Harry and she will say a few jokes and he will laugh. So they also have a similar sense of humor.

There is a lot of good lines throughout the series but this one is really high up there.
