1. The Wife is Happier

With a career high stress and drama ensues,especially if its a good one. I wouldn't want my wife exhausted and, stressed. She can stay at home my career is one that pays well and, I stay calm under stress.

2. She Is More Energetic

Without the strain of the job she'll be more energetic. With more energy , she'll be more flirtatious. The flirtatious nature translates to more fun in between the sheets. The energetic means she would be "in the mood" for sex more often.

3. If We Have Kids She Will Spend More Time With Them

Nothing makes a mother more happy than spending time with her kids. I also won't have to pay the fees for a daycare. I would also worry less about day cares abusing my kids.

4. I'm Trash at Cooking

My culinary skills consist of Hamburger Helper, Ramden Noodles and, cookies. I will let her do all the cooking. Home cooked meals are less expensive ,and healthier for you.

5. I Would Feel Needed

Something about a wife and kids relying on you is confidence inspiring. I'm all for confidence raising activities.

6. I Will Pay Her Back

I will often express my gratitude with ensuring she provided for + I'm likely to spoil her with gifts. Secondly everyone has that thing they like a lot when their lover does. I do those things for her more often. :P

There's nothing wrong with wanting a housewife as long as the woman you're with wants that for herself and isn't forced into it. A lot of women don't want to stay at home all day, they would rather be out there working themselves.

Personally speaking, I want to work but I wouldn't mind staying home either *if* my husband and I could afford it. Really, the only reason I would want to stay at home would be if I had kids. I would want to be there with them when they're young, especially considering how expensive child care is and I don't want strangers raising my kids.

If you have the luxury of making a large enough income alone to support a housewife, then I see no problem with it as long as she is happy.

The only issue I can see in the future, is that housewives tend to be more depressed unless they start a side business out of the home to feel a sense of career life purpose.

I very much understand that.

I have become pretty much "at home" due to a disability, but would love to have a part time job just to have my own personal spending money. The only problem is with autoimmune disease, you can never plan for a flareup, and they can last days or weeks at a time. I am pretty much unemployable for that reason alone. And while a home business is nice, I love the idea of getting dressed every day to go do something and be around people. or I would get depressed very quickly.

Actually taking care of running, screaming, crying, pooping, vomiting kids all day while also trying to cook, clean, do the dishes and the laundry at the same time, is just about as stressful, if not more stressful, than going to a "real job". Being a stay at home wife is not as relaxing as you might think. Especially if you have more than one kid. Although most moms love being moms, I bet a lot of them would still like some time off from their kids. This will be easier when the kids go to school and such, but as long as they're at home, these moms are basically at work 24/7.
If you really want a housewife, then you've got to take care of her just as much as she takes care of you. Offer to do the laundry, the dishes and the cleaning. Learn how to be a better cook. It's really not that difficult. When you come home, your wife will most likely be tired, sweaty, in sweatpants and a sweatshirt, longing for a hot shower. So if all you do is take your shoes off and throw your feet on the coffee table and ask her when the dinner's ready, be prepared for absolute hell.
And if you get fired for whatever reason, be prepared for absolute hell vol. 2. Financially speaking it's much more stable if both of you would have a job, so that you wouldn't have to worry about money as much if one of you lose your job.

Yes, it can be very difficult to care for children! I stayed home with mine, and it can be mind-numbing, making you feel sub-human. If your friends don't also have children, you feel misunderstood and alone, or left behind. I didn't get a shower or a nap until my husband came home and sometimes, not even then. It isn't the way they portray it on TV at all.

It is said, "it take a village to raise a child." Children are hard to raise with even both parents present. Grandparents help a lot.
Also, some places in America, it's cheaper to live. I live in NYC, where a studio can run you 1500. Where as outside the city, you can get a 2 bedroom for less.
I think with a decent paying job, one parent can have a job while the other stays home.

@GreatnessPersonified there's nothing wrong with being a stay at home wife/being the breadwinner as long as you have the financial resources for it and it's what you/your wife truly wants. But since it's difficult to keep a house clean and children taken care of, I think it's a tad too much to ask for if you expect your wife to always be relaxed, sexy and ready for sex. At least while the kids are still babies and toddlers. Like I said, at that point she's most likely very tired, sweaty, not wearing any makeup and in her sweats. No point in getting all dolled up if all you're going to do is clean up poop/vomit, do laundry, cook etc. So that was a bit unrealistic of the takeOwner.

True, but any help is appreciated. There are, also, mommy and me centers, parks and other social gathering places where parents can go to be around other adults. Being around a kid can lower your
"adulthood," for lack of a better word. LOL. For example, I know more kids songs than pop songs now.

Wouldn't you rather feel wanted and not needed just because you provide food and shelter. There are more ways to feel wanted/needed than a woman having to be a stay at home wife/mother.

I'm all for doing whatever you want in your relationship but I just can't understand why so many people have an issue with a mother having a life outside/career outside of her children. It's good to teach your children independence, it's ok to let them see her have a passion outside of them and to help contribute financially. It's also ok for her to be a stay at home mom.

My point is, why don't you let her decide what makes her "happier", instead of deciding for her.

I am not deciding for her this is done by consent. So many people say that kids are exhausting. I'm assuming people are just not as good with kids as I am. I find kids to be great fun, I actually end up exhausting them. I have no problem helping her out around the house or with the kids. If she is exhausted tell me. I will arrange a some time away from the kids for her to relax. A spa day would seem good.

Eat bonbons all day, lay on the couch watching Oprah, General Hospital, and being Peg Bundy!

For real, I would have the house totally clean every day, all the laundry done, do all my shopping, and like I do now, I would be ready when my man comes home with dinner on the table to fill his tummy and hear about his day. Then being home all day thinking of him every minute, I would be eagerly waiting for him to fill my "tummy", maybe 2 or 3 times before we go to sleep!

Even now, i agree with the Asian idea that it is not healthy, physically, mentally, and spiritually, for a man not to have sex several times a week. I know a lot of wives are too "tired" at the end of the day to be in the "mood", but I feel (and want) my man needs to know I desire him and the biggest way to do that, is by having sex regularly.

I know a lot of wives that lose interest in sex, and their marriage loses a lot of it's thrill and the relationship sours. Kids can cause a lot of this, so when i have kids. I am going to still make time to have sex with my hubby. I am not sexually uptight, so if we have to have sex while the kids are outside playing, or even better, we are watching a movie together, i WILL have sex with my hubby under a blanket on the sofa! It's those kinds of things that keep a marriage alive AND secret sex where you might get caught, really makes me horny and intensifies the whole experience for me!

Every husband deserves a woman that desires, craves, and gets excited by just the thought of his touch, kisses, and ultimately, him filling her "tummy" (yes, her pussy!) likes she fills his stomach with a good meal!

1. People can have rewarding careers that sometimes are stressful but worth it. Assuming she shouldn't be stressed is kinda like saying she can't handle being stressed. If you can handle and like a job that is sometimes stressful, your wife should be able to as well.

My parents were both in work but when they had me and my sister my mum told my dad that she wanted to quit work and be a housewife instead. She's perfect as a mum, she's a great person, approachable, loving and kind. She wanted kids in her life and she planned it all out, rather than it just being on of those things that everyone does. By he being a housewife she was able to look after the both of us and create a much more stronger, loving bond between us and make us more of a family.
However, it is stressful sometimes, I wouldn't know yet but being stuck in the house most of the time looking after kids can be a pretty big pain. My and my sister apparently never really made a fuss and we were quite easy to look after, but I know that doesn't apply for many other families.
I know a large amount of feminists also think this is wrong because women should be out in the workplace getting the same opportunities as men, but if a house needs cleaning then I'm more than happy to clean it without feeling as though i'm being oppressed. However, I would expect my husband to clean the house every once in a while too, or at least help me.
It's all about helping out once in a while and making sure she's happy. Don't make the decision for her. If she wants to be a housewife then let her be one, unless there's financial problems. However, if she doesn't want to be a housewife and enjoys her work or wants to pursue her own career then don't stop her. Help her out, learn to cook and surprise her by cooking dinner every once in a while. If she helps you out with work by making you lunch or washing and ironing your clothes then you should be able to help her with a few little jobs.

I would never be a housewife, but to each their own. I do find it kind of disturbing that you want your wife to rely on you financially, but I'm not surprised.

You also seem to have a typically lack of understanding of how exhausting running a house could be, especially if you have multiple children. Now, if you have no children, maybe a different story.

Ironically, stay at home moms actually report higher rates of depression and unhappiness. So you may want to do more research on the idea that she would be happier...

I want to set a certain example for my children, especially if they're girls, feel fulfilled in a purpose other than mother and accomplish my goals, and lead what is a fuller life in my eyes.

Not to mention that living well in certain places that I prefer on one income is a challenge. Even if it weren't a challenge, I still wouldn't be a stay at home mom.

My mother was a housewife and a worker at different stages of her life. Now she works part time. With having 6 kids she felt she had to stay at work somehow because financially both her and my dad couldn't support us all on one wage. It causes an awful lot of problems in our home. Then again my dad has always expected my mother to work and have kids which it fair either.

If I was in a loving relationship with a person who would allow me to stay at home after having children and could finally support us then I would definitely be a stay at home mother.

I couldn't be expected to work and have children. I seen the stress it causes my own mother, Some men think were superhuman to do both. My mother is now suffering from arthiritis and has brain aneurysms, has a part time job and runs the house. Its way too much.

I'd still die of boredom, I want to climb the professional ladder and travel and have my own money! What if the relationship ended up going sour, dare I say even abusive? You never know! And in that case I'd rather have my own money so I know that no matter what happens in the relationship, I can take care of myself and I will be okay. The only person in this world you can ever rely 100% is yourself, I'm a total romantic but even I realize this. Plus I would be ashamed if I wasn't self sufficient, I would feel like a child again having to be provided for! My parents would be so disappointed! I was a stay at home mom for 5 years. Recently, I started working. This new phase in my life has been the best! I love having a career, I love having my own money and being independent.

As a stay at home mom, my partner only gave me money if he was in a good mood. I had to keep him happy to get my basic needs met. On the other hand no one was keeping me happy. Yes, I didn't have the stress of bills, but I was unhappy and miserable.

I think if my partner had been more kind to me and had let me enjoy being me, I would of liked being a SAHM.

When you are in a marriage it shouldn't be "my money" "your money", it should be "our money".
There should always be mutual respect about money, and as long as big purchases are talked over, both spouses should be able to use the money freely (per your budget - like "we have 50$ to spend on groceries this week", etc.)

TBH, I don't think I'd ever get married, because I can't imagine myself married. Not sure if I'd be considered attractive... and what about divorce? Might be good to have a skilled job before becoming a housewife.

The problem is, most guys these days are coming from single parent households, raised by their mother, & are so used to their mothers taking care of them. They are so needy & dependent that it would be impossible to rely on them to lead a household. Plus, with the cost of living rising makes this virtually impossible.
