Unconventional Love Songs for Valentine's Day

ChromAzonyx108

Well, Valentine’s Day is coming up, but don’t you get tired of listening to sappy love songs? If so, then here’s a list of unconventional love songs that you may find more palatable.

Unconventional Love Songs

1. Wore Out My Soul by Casey Abrams

I find this song adorable. It starts off like a normal love song but it turns out to be about shoes. Perhaps some women will like this song.

♪Mama used to say I’ll grow out of you one day.

I thought I’d be with you till we were old and grey♪

2. www.nevergetoveryou by Prozzak

I had to include at least one Prozzak song on this list. It’s interesting how their songs can be upbeat and sad at the same time. I could have chosen a few other Prozzak songs but I picked this one because you don’t hear many songs that are specifically about online dating. Also, this song is probably one of the first songs about online dating as it was released in 2000, five years after the first actual online dating service (Match.com) was created in 1995.

♪I stayed up all night, Construction web-site, Just click on our fight, And watch me crying♪

3. A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold

This one is a bit macabre; not your typical love song. It’s something like Tim Burton would come up with (the ‘Corpse Bride’ comes to mind).

♪You had my heart, at least for the most part.

Cause everybody's gotta die sometime♪

4. Say You Love Me by Darling Violetta

This song has a different atmosphere to it. Somehow it’s creepy and seductive at the same time.

♪We walk through crimson fire to room one eighteen.

You open my heart with a sapphire skeleton key♪

5. Bitch Came Back by Theory of a Deadman

Theory of a Deadman can be a bit misogynistic at times and perhaps that shows in this song. I could have chosen a few other Theory of a Deadman songs but I picked this one because it was based off of a children’s song.

♪The bitch came back the very next day

Oh, the bitch came back, I thought she was a goner

But, the bitch came back, she couldn't stay away♪

6. Loves Me Not by t.A.T.u.

Here’s a song about bisexuality or about someone who is confused about their sexuality.

♪I don't know why, I had to try, Living my life on the other side,

Now I'm so confused, I don't know what to do♪

7. May by James Durbin

This song has a good story to it. I almost cried the first time I heard it but I had to keep back the tears because I was on a bus at the time. This song is not just about love but also family and growing up. Just take a listen to it to see what I mean.

If you’re single, the last 3 songs I’ve picked represent 3 different attitudes you can have about your situation.

8. Lonely by Drake Bell

I think this song is about a guy who chooses to befriend loneliness itself rather than deal with the hurt and self-doubt that comes from loving someone.

♪Try to fight, try to stop, try to hold back

Try to stay all alone, 'cause I know that

Loving me ends tragically♪

9. The Angel and The One by Weezer

This song feels a bit transcendental. To me it is neither for nor against love, it drops that duality and says that you are enough unto yourself.

♪I feel a deeper peace, and that deeper peace is penetrating.

I've got the magic in me, I am complete is what I'm saying♪

10. Make Believe by Thornley

This song serves as a reminder for single people to stop fantasizing about love and to stop moaning about the lack of love in your life. Instead, you should get out there and make it happen.

♪I've got this film in my head

They've scripted all that I've said

Let's make it real before we're dead♪
