Why You Should Celebrate Valentine's Day!

I am surrounded by people who refuse to celebrate Valentine's day and even hate the thought of it, but I will always celebrate, and here's why.

1. It is a chance to show your love.

Yes, yes, yes you should show your significant other how much you love them everyday but when there is a special holiday dedicated to just that why shouldn't we take advantage of it? Take the oppurtunity to go out somewhere new, buy a cheesy gift for your significant other, and tell each other how much you love each other.

2. Be the cheesy couple that everyone else hates to see.

Valentines day pretty much gives you the chance to be as lovey dovey and coupley as you want without as much judgement. (Okay they will still judge but who really cares?)

3. Who doesn't love an opportunity to give/receive gifts?

I love buying gifts for people even if it is just a cheesy $5 gift I love putting the thought into it and seeing their face when they open it. And seriously who doesn't like to get a gift?

4. Make a change and go out to a nice dinner.

I know there are some couples that do this on a regular basis, but for me that just doesn't work financially, so Valentines day gives the opportunity to get dressed up and go out to a nice restaurant for a change.

5. The super cliche Valentines day box of chocolates.

Now who doesn't love chocolate? (I have a chocolate intolerance so it actually isn't my first choice) But seriously? Who else doesn't love those cheesy heart shaped boxes full of assorted chocolates?

6. SEX!

We all know sex is awesome but after a day of love and affection the anticipation will make things so much better. As some added fun you can buy some sexy Valentines day lingere or fuzzy red handcuffs and get in the holiday spirit!

7. Even if you are single the day doesn't need to suck!

I spent years when I was single wishing and hoping I had a boyfriend to spend it with, but then I realized that wallowing would do nothing and I embraced the holiday spirit! I baked cookies and cupcakes, I wore red and pink and hearts, I got cards for all of my friends and family. I made it a fun day, a chance to celebrate!

So lose this idea of thinking and this thought on Valentines day, it is a holiday of love, embrace it! Instead of seeing it as a Hallmark holiday created for card companies to make money see it as a chance to tell the people around you that you love them, buy the cheesy cards you hate so much.

So have a happy Valentines Day everyone! Whether you are single, in love, or on a first date enjoy yourself and make the best of it!

3. Poor people, or people who work REALLY hard for what they have.
4. You can do this any time, and I do it quite often.
5. V-Day ANYTHING is overpriced. You can get chocolate anywhere.

7. Yes, you do. Because you're going to be SURROUNDED by people rubbing your singleness and loneliness in your face. There's no escaping it.

This is a miserable "holiday" for any single person and even most men who are in a relationship.

It's just another reminder that sex is very, very expensive. You gotta pay to play.

That holiday already exists, it's called your anniversary and it's a day that actually special and personal to the both you instead of a day that's not special at all as everyone else around is doing the same thing you are

2. Be over the top cheesy which everyone hates
3. Guys are expected to give more expensive gifts
4. Guys have to pay for expensive dinner
5. Oh great now on top of the gifts and dinner she wants chocolates too

6. Oh boy! Finally the guys reward for going through all this crap! He gets to... have sex... with his girlfriend... Wow awesome. Can't wait for next Valentine's day!

I don't understand why people hate Valentine's day so much? If you can do the same things any other day why can't you make your girlfriend happy and do it on Valentine's day? I love celebrating anything with my boyfriend, even if it is extremely cheesy.
3. Not all girls expect expensive gifts, guys seem to be under that mentality, just get us a romantic card, or a single rose, a stuffed animal from the drug store, as long as its from our SO we won't care.
4. I will give you this one, guys generally are the ones paying, I offer to split it or pay but my boyfriend never gives me the opportunity, I guess he's just old fashioned like that.
5. Seriously doesn't have to be expensive chocolates, go to Kroger's and buy a $5 heart shaped box of chocolates.
6. Sex is just a given.

If guys would just accept the holiday and get in the spirit it wouldn't suck as much for you. Attitude matters and if you go into it with a crappy attitude it's going to be a crappy day.

It's a day almost completely centered around women. Hell, I was saw 4 commercials just yesterday afternoon about what to buy your girl for Valentine's day. Guess how many I seen in the last week about getting a guy something for Valentine's day? Don't worry, take your time. The day offers almost nothing to men, and like I said there is already a day of the year for celebrating the exact same occasion exceptvits actually relevant and personal to you two

You should be doing all the V day things each day of the year. I don't need the card / chocolate companies to make up a day to over charge me to show my love for my woman. V day is a horseshit made up woman's holiday.

Sure women love it. They get things, they are not expected to buy things.
The $20 roses you buy every other week of the year, are now $100. That is not an exaggeration either. Most of the other places also jack the prices up.
Why? because the greeting card company and a bunch of others lobbied congress to pass a day on a calendar that they can fuck people.
SO just on that I don't do it.
also, my grandfather died on V day, I had another cousin shot and almost killed on V day
I just wake up and wait to find out what else is going to happen.
I don't need a calendar to tell me I love my girlfriend.

even if you are single, you can't help but feel alone. why celebrate something where the area of your love life sucks? it's not worth celebrating in my opinion.

Love doesn't necessarily need to be for a SO, love can be for friends, for family, anyone you love, and it doesn't need to be romantic in nature. You don't need to make a big day of it but tell someone you love them and get them a cheesy card.
