Hey guys, it's Cadie and this is my take on dating my best friend!

The story:


We were best friends since day 1 one middle school. He offered me food and I immediately knew he was a keeper (ya know as a friend). Most people couldn't get over the fact we were best friends and we kept getting frequent comments for about 4 years to date. We never saw each other that way and then one day we went out to see the movie 'Suicide Squad'. We had a good time it was a good movie and then he said 'If dating you is as fun as this, I wanna date you and I would be jealous of anyone else who would date you'. I felt touched and I commented about how I enjoyed myself. Then he asked me out so I decided to give it a try.

1. Dates and everything is still as fun, just more I guess.

Think about it this way, you are highly comfortable around this person. He doesn't have to see you in makeup & dresses 24/7. And while you're watching a movie, you could accidentally 'let one rip' or burp, it wouldn't be as awkward as if it was some guy you just met and started dating.

2. If breaking up is the case.... It would be a lot easier but....

If you guys ever broke up it wouldn't be as harsh or as heartbreaking as other break ups would it? But the only concern is ruining the friendship, which is really unlikely to happen, I mean they are your real and only best friend right?

3. You guys are friends right? Your family should have at least heard about them once!


So meeting your parents should be out of the way and if it isn't they shouldn't be too hard on him/her. They did look after you and stayed loyal to your friendship for quite sometime!

4. One of the reasons you're best friends is coz you go like toilet paper and poop!

What I'm tryna say is you guys already things in common so you should just date and getting gifts for him would be easier. Plus making a decision wouldn't be that hard, I mean your friends; haven't you compromised before?

5. He makes you feel great about yourself

If he didn't, you wouldn't hang out with him. Your mood is elevated during his presence, even if it's when you're doing something stupid like snarking on movie selections. He's the first one you call when you're down, and no matter what, he always knows what to say. They have made you laugh before, I mean why are they even your best friend if they didn't then. And he knows things that annoy you/pet peeves/people so he would have to have dealt with one of them before.(Bonus: You guys might already have cute nicknames for each other so he can call you the nickname when you are like sad)

6. When you guys fight it shouldn't be such a big deal

The two of you have been fighting for ages. You’ve worked things out before, and this time isn’t any different.

7. They’ve seen you at your worst, and didn’t run away.

Him: Remember when you were sick and depressed and never showered or brushed your teeth for a week?

Me: Yeah, I'm so glad you were there for me

Him: Well you were always there for me too!

8. (Mostly for girls) He has probably experienced you PMS-ing and he still is your friend

Okay if he can handle this now, we are all set for the future, now where are those wedding rings?

So what's my tips and advice?

I'm not saying it's the best to date your best guy/girl friend and I am not saying you should right now but I'm just explaining why it's a good Idea. I mean you already like each other anyways.
