I really don't get people and texting!
Texting, snapchat etc. should really be quite simple. Essentially it's a conversation. Imagine trying to have a conversation with someone in person and every time you say something they wait for a while to respond. Pretty frustrating after a while.
A conversation (texting, whatever) is supposed to be like tennis
I hit you the ball. You hit it back. If you wait until tomorrow the game is no fun. If you don't hit it back I will not keep hitting you balls. Hitting the ball back does NOT make you seem desperate. I just means you want to play. That is good. The deal is when people take a long time to reply consistently, the server will loose intrest in the game. We all know that most people check their phone. Often. So if it always takes you days or hours to reply the game is no fun. Since we know you check your phone often then we know that your ignoring us, even if it's just a while. Nuts to that.
Here are the rules:
- Don't take too long to return the ball. Taking too long consistently just pushes people away. Crappy game of tennis.
- If I don't get back to you right away don't keep serving me 3 or 4 balls. That does seem desperate. Serve and wait. If I take a while you can try again. If I still don't reply then do not keep serving.
- Always respond in a reasonable amount of time. (Just don't always respond instantly or it will look like you have no life or are on the phone all the time.) Best to very it a little. Sometimes respond quickly. Sometimes after a while. But not too long.
- If you cannot respond within 4 hours apologize and give an idea why. This way people don't think you aren't interested.
- Do not write a novella. If your text message is too long winded, that just seems insecure or don't realize texting is for quick messages. Keep it short and to the point. No elaborate fancy serves.
- Do not ignore someone's text. That's just rude. Just say hey, sorry I'm not interested. Then they can move on. If they continue -then you can ignore them. This way your not a dick.
There are women I have figured aren't interested because they take days to respond, only to find out they were but, suck at texting. Sorry I lost interest but tennis with you sucks and that just tells me your not interested and not considerate enough let me know. Many women have lost out because of this. You must show interest or loose him.
I don't know when or where women decided that returning a text in a timely fashion makes you seem desperate. It does not. The only thing that does is if you blow up my phone with texts when I haven't gotten back to you quickly.
I don't know where guys get the idea that sending lots of texts when she hasn't responded will get her to respond. As stated, this looks desperate. That will turn her off for sure.
