Is there a way to ask for someones number without it being awkward?

So i really like this guy and someone told him i like him (i don't mind that), it makes it easier for me but the only problem is I don't know how to give him my number or if he will give me his. It has been weeks and weeks, like he might just think i am weird by now lol. I am particularly quiet so i am almost always awkward. Would it be better to just say "Do you have skype?"- or maybe i am over thinking this.

You are over thinking, although I'd do the same thing.
What I've said to every girl who's number I asked for:

-"Hey, I don't have your number, what is it."
Actually, now that I think about it a lot of times I've just said "what's your number... here, put it in," then I pull out my phone and open the contacts. They usually ask why, but when they do I just say "so I can contact you" or "cause I like to expand my network of people".

Anyway, you could probably just say "what's your number" and be done with it.

I honestly know exactly what you mean. I've probably said this 300 times on this site alone by now, but for the past year and a half I have changed myself to become super social with anyone, and it's been great. It mostly happened because I was in some positions of leadership, and I had to interact with people at my job.

You need to learn not to give a crap what people think about your personality or opinions. Anyone who meets you then chooses to not associate with you is no loss to you, just a loss for them.

I didn't know if you've talked to him before, but yes I would suggest doing that a bit before asking for his number. I only ask for the numbers of girls I've been talking to for a while.

And it can seem "so easy" to you too once you get it down.

I have been talking to him for a while now (4 months) but sometimes its hard to start a conversation, with anyone really. But i have come out of my shell a little bit more since last year. I like to think on the bright side of things, but something negative always comes out. Like a few weeks ago he patted me on the shoulder and we were talking, i had a bad skin infection. He asked me if it was contagious and i said yes if you touch my spine. Then he ended the conversation and went to talk to his friends. But at least i have 5 people that i can talk about my feelings with at school. Tomorrow i will suck it up and start a conversation and ask for his number :)

Okay, you have been talking to him, so definitely just ask his number. Doesn't really matter how random, in fact it might be better to ask him surprisingly so he doesn't have time to say anything but "well okay". If you're really that worried.

Don't try too hard to start conversations.

Write your number on a piece of paper, walk up to him, put it in his hand and say "here is my number, text me sometime" done :)

Try not to over think it. It's just a number not an exam. You can't pass or fail. Talk to him and at a really comfortable moment in conversation (like you both are laughing), casually ask for his number. "You know, you're a cool guy, mind if we swap numbers?" ;)

Literally just go ahead and ask him for his number, but do it very casually just like "btw can i get your number?" and that's it. Don't worry it's not awkward or weird or anything, so the less you over-think it, the better.

Ask him if you can see his phone. When he gives it to you, save your number in it & send a text message to yourself so you'll have his.

Just take a picture with the persons phone and then say you want it because then the person have to get your number
