It is something that I would be mindful of, to be kind and patient, and give them room to breath and grow comfortable around me, as I've known individuals with speech impediments and stutters, and from what they've said it affects their lives in an intense way. From my outside view, I have never had any ill thoughts, nor have I felt discouragement from pursuing conversations or friendships. I had a friend when I was a kid who I was very protective of due to this.

In a way, it can be an interesting "quirk." We all have oddities in mannerisms and speech, no matter who it is. I have been attracted to someone who struggled with stammering, and it never was a red flag. Everyone is more than skin deep; you cannot gauge by outer appearance or sound alone. Stuttering is not a reflection of bad things... it is just another human detail.

I feel differently each time. Some of the people I've known, they fight so hard for it not to define them, for it not to be the focus, and for people not to "pity" them; in those cases, I know they don't want me to see them as people who need help. At other times, I've known those who just need to feel acceptance, verbally or non-verbally, from another human; they want to open up, to be comfortable, to know someone who will not judge, and I try to become that person for them.

That said, I will always feel kind sympathy, especially if they truly struggle deeply to convey a message. I'd miss a class or work if it meant my presence and company for those few extra minutes would mean a lot to them. I have made such great friends, such great individuals, who also happened to have speech impediments.

I've never experienced a loss of attraction or disappointment in the people I've liked after they've spoken. Inner beliefs, dreams, interest, personality-- they are all worth so much more.

Nope, wouldn't mind that at all. I've known a few people with various speech impediments in my life and it's not hard to understand them after awhile. I find it to be a unique and even endearing quality to that person, and I would definitely feel the same way if I was dating you.

I'd be patient with you if we were dating. My husband has an accent because English is his second language, and even though he speaks it really well sometimes he forgets words or how to say them and that frustrates him. Not exactly the same thing, but I learned to be patient with him.

The speech/language thing is really minor especially if people can understand you even with the impediment. Like I said, my guy has an accent but it's not really heavy at all. I actually think it adds to his appeal. He's smart, attractive, sexy, and treats me well and that's what's really important.

As long as a girl finds you physically attractive and likes your personality, you'll be fine.

Honestly I wouldn't. When I was in high school there was this girl in my class that stuttered and the first time I heard it I never laughed and even after that. Stuttering isn't something to laugh about. It really doesn't get a reaction from me. I'm just the type of person who doesn't react to those kinda things

No I just thought he was shy or nervous. He sat next to me in class so I talked to him a lot. After a while he told me he had a speech impediment. Eventually I got really good at understanding him because I was around him all the time. Also when he got more comfortable he stuttered less

No, if I did then I'd be a horrible person. I'd talk to them like any person who came up to me, the stutter wouldn't make a difference. I know a couple of people with stutters and I talk to them all the time, and I'm completely fine with it.
