I'd like to know how you define the "talking" stage of a relationship?

It seems like, with my generation, people don't believe in dating anymore. It's either we're talking or we're together. But it seems like different people define "talking" in completely different ways which leads to misunderstandings in relationships. So how do y'all define "talking?" Or do you even think that's a thing?

"Talking" to me is pretty much the dating stage.
Getting better acquainted with each other by going on dates or exchanging information (through conversations).
During this stage you're trying to see if you're compatible with this person by familiarizing yourself with them.
You both aren't official at this point.

Honestly talking is flirting. not sexting or dating but flirty as if the person knew u liked him/her and the person makes it obvious to you that they like you as well.

Until exlusiveness occurs, everybody is free to communicate and find common tastes with multiple people at a time so they make the right decisions for themselves. Dating and exlusiveness are different. You date with 5 people and then you are free to choose the exclusive one after experiencing the time past with them

I never cared much for the term myself. What most people call "talking" means dating but not yet at the relationship stage.

In order to avoid misunderstands do not assume you are exclusive with someone until you both talk about and agree to be.
