Why would my crush (who is a girl) hide behind her friend when she sees me?

But she stares at me, when she is alone and her eyes are dilated all the time. She also avoids eye contact with me when she is with her friend. But will say "hi"

Ask her: "Why do you hide behind your friend, it's confusing because I feel like you're interested in me and yet your hiding. I'd like you to be honest"

My assumption is one of TWO plausible reasons..

1) She is nervous around you and feels like her friend makes her more comfortable

2) She feels like you are clingy and that she doesn't want to date you, where she knows you like her and are fighting for that. She doesn't know how to turn you down respectfully to stop you from being led on.

So your best option, is to ask her.

Because she's nervous duh. I'm telling you you have to make the first move so she knows you feel the same way. My girlfriend was the same way and I made the first move and now we've been together the last year and a half.

She's just a bit nervous, No EXTREMELY nervous. He's she's not making fun of you or beating you up, there's a good chance that she likes you, alot. Especially because she can only manage to say hello to you. She probably knows that if she says more than that she'll embarrass herself. Hang in there buddy. You'll get her.
