my boyfriend used to tell me just the "i love you" word. but now he keeps on saying "i love you so much" now already. is it just plainly saying I love you or they mean it more now?

it could mean a lot of things. when I say I love you more its that everyday I fall more in love with my girlfriend and that I love her more than she does me. but he wouldn't say it without meaning it. its a very meaningful word and usually takes a lot to say to someone.
