Do you expect your boyfriend to pay for everything?

Question

e. g. going out to movies, restaurants, going grocery shopping to eat at home instead of eating out, etc
Girls, do you expect your boyfriend to pay for all of it? Or you offer to pay for some?
Would you be offended if your boyfriend ask you to take turns in paying for stuff?
Like my boyfriend and I have been going out for nearly 8 months and he doesn't have a high income so he does ask me to pay for some things (the more cheaper one - e. g. i pay for movie tickets, he pays for dinner) and I dont mind paying for it. But girls, would you be offended by this? Do u expect him to pay still? 
And guys, do you pay for everything or you want her to pay for some stuff too?

I mean... we wouldn't do much if he had to pay for everything. I don't make much but I work full time and make a livable amount of money and he is an RA on a college campus and gets $180 a month.

When we first started dating, we were in high school. I had a job. He got paid to mow his lawn by his parents. He would use his lawn money to take me out and insist on paying for me because "that's the man's job." I always offered to go Dutch or pay for our activities. He always declined.

We started dating in October and around February his lifetime supply of lawn money was wearing thin. So I started paying.

Now, if we go out and the bill is modest ($30 or less total) he pays. If it's more, I do. More often than not it's more lol

So... no, I don't expect him to pay for everything. I've gotten quite used to paying for everything (been together 6 years now) and it's gonna be a bit of an adjustment when he starts contributing financially lol - might feel unneeded :p

*NOTE - Before anyone jumps on me for having a slacker man... he's in college full time (I graduated early) and after he graduates he'll be going to law school so, while he's not working currently, he's taking steps to make our lives better in the future. :)

I would not. It would be nice, but I wouldn't. I don't think that is reasonable. I don't date anyway. And I would never date somebody I don't already personally know. I believe in the traditional way that if a guy has interest in you and he wants to take you out on a date, he should pay. That is what I was taught by my now late grandfather. He said that a man who is truly interested in you would is paying for your time. Not because you're a woman. But I also don't have a problem with women paying too. But only if she asked him out. And it's always good to offer to pay as well, whether your male and female. I say do things as what works for the both of you and your relationship. 1st date I say are crucial. But once your official, it doesn't matter. But it does make him look more favorable and more of a gentleman. And no, not because he's spending on her. But because his actions speak's louder than words.

I'd never be totally financially dependent on my boyfriend. I'd never expect him to pay for everything, and always " foot the bill" wherever we go. That would be unfair , and I'd feel too guilty. I'd never want him to feel I'd take advantage of his kindness

If one person ALWAYS pays then they are being used. A genuine person wouldn't let someone else pay for them ALL of the time. I'd never pay for a guy ALL of the time either . There has to be a balance where both contribute financially in the relationship He can't always be the one contributing financially in our relationship. There has to be " give & take" in the relationship

i have a friend who ALWAYS pays. i asked him about it and he said, "nope, I'll never let my girlfriend pay. it's just what I do man. I'll always pay for her. she tries to pay I'll take her wallet from her and pay myself."

no. i think it should be half. but if someone invites me somewhere it's only right for them to pay but if we put wanted to go somewhere i'd pay half and half. if i'm going out with him i'll pay. i don't mind paying for my boyfriend and spoiling him with gifts it's just a part of being in love. the only thing that would bother me is if he didn't buy me anything at all throughout the whole relationship while i bought him a lot of things. it would make me feel like he doesn't love or like me. it doesn't even have to be an expensive gift. a candy bar or a cute card will do. it's just the thought that he thinks and cares about me.

I work for myself and sometimes business isn't great. My boyfriend who is 17 years older than me prefers I pay for rent and house furniture while he pays for groceries and dates (once a month), he doesn't clean, make the bed, or do laundry and he complains when he has to take the trash out, he has the property that he's owing in another country and that's where he gets his money and besides that, he doesn't work, he only plays games every day from when he wakes up to when he sleeps and complain about me being too busy. I have a 5-year-old that I look after, clean, do laundry, and work so that I can pay my bills. I politely asked him to move out and he refused so as much as I don't expect a man to pay for everything, I would love a man who wants to make life easier for me by helping greatly even if it's not all the time.

I think it depends in how long u have been together, if you have been together for a month, I don't see a problem in him paying, as long as she doesn't get used to it. I usually let the Guy Pay for dinner and things like that, but movie tickets, I usually Pay if we have been together longer than a month. I think it depends if he has the money for it.

i get offended if he pays for everything i buy. i mean, i have my own money to spend. if i don't have some, i won't buy anything instead of expecting him to pay. but it happens to be him who gets offended when i say i don't want him to pay for my things. Of course not. I pay for half (loosely based, we don't count dollar for dollar) and I don't think men should have to ask their girlfriend to step up and pull their weight.
She should be offering, and any girl who isn't at least making the "getting the wallet out" gesture is rude. How horrible, forcing a guy into the situation where he has to ASK for his girlfriend to pay for her own bills

I was dating my ex for 4 years. In the beginning I paid for half (unless he specifically wanted to take me on a date). I never liked feeling dependent. After a while we started alternating based on income. I think a fair way to look at it is if he makes 3x you he pays for a proportional amount and vice versa. If someone specifically asks the other on a date, that person should offer to take care of it.

I beer expect the guy to pay for me if I don't have money to go and do something I won't go out. Most of the time I pay for the guy when we go out for dinner or movies or whatever it is a lot of the time they say they will pay for me but I always feel awkward when someone try's to pay for me.

Generally on dates, we pay our own half or he pays entirely and I pay entirely next time and vice versa. We split bills as evenly as we can and shopping is usually split too so no, usually we pay roughly the same amount.
