OK I was texting this girl I'm interested in (but I'm not in love or anything yet), and suddenly she mentioned that she had not been texting guys recently as she wanted to concentrate on studies (exams were coming up next week)

the conversation went somewhat like this:

her: you don't have to keep texting me you know, I don't chat with guys recently so that I can concentrate (on studies)

me: I didn't know I was so distracting. okay cya in sch.

me: wait, I didn't do anything wrong right?

her: nope, no worries. don't think so much luh, we are friends.

me: lol what's with that last sentence? did you think that would change or something?

her: is that like a confession?

me: WHAT?! like, no? what's going through your mind, seriously.

her: haha. good! just scaring you. okay see ya at school.

me: haha okay. can't believe you actually thought I liked you -.- rofl.

...

and... I think I screwed up there. what should I have done? what should I do from here on?...

i haven't talked to her in 2 days and it seems she's avoiding me -.- every time I talk to her on msn, she doesn't reply and signs off 5mins later... what's going on?

Yeah, you screwed up. Of course, girls do this kind of thing a lot with guys too, so don't beat yourself up too much...

Like others are saying, you need to go talk to her in person. Girls get all weird when they feel insecure, hurt or embarrassed around a guy, so her behavior doesn't surprise me.

What you want to do is to confront her about this behavior -- you could be like, "Hey, I never see you online anymore." The goal is you want to coax her to tell you that you upset her, so you can apologize.

The apology itself could be something that's obviously sarcastic but not too offensive like, "Of course, I don't like you...you think your exams are so much more important than texting me." Dunno...that might be a bit too cocky. You could also try something self-deprecating. Or you could play it straight...but the risk there is that she might think your sincere apology is just you pitying her, not that you actually like her, which will make her even more upset.

If you can't that pull that off, or all else fails, the final thing you can try is to become her "secret admirer" and try to re-establish a connection that way.

Hmm... what if I say that I didn't really mean everything I said?... then add in something along the lines of 'yeah you're an interesting girl'. somewhat hinting?... I don't know -.-

It's tough...I'm not sure that wouldn't work, but my fear is that at this point she'll take that subtle hint the wrong way. Also, if you say that you "didn't mean everything" that doesn't sound good...kinda implies you were half-serious when you said you didn't like her...better to say you "didn't mean anything".

Maybe you can try one more text, and send a message like, "I acted like a fool...I need to talk to you." But if she blows that off, then you need to wait.
