My boyfriend's best friend makes fun of me... what should I do? :(

My boyfriends best friend makes fun of me, at least I feel like he is.

When I met my boyfriend 4 years ago I didn't have any friends and it's still hard for me to make friends.

So I don't have anybody to hang out with on a daily basis. I don't get along well with girls either.

I'm not bad looking and my social skills aren't that bad, but somehow loneliness is a huge part of my life.

I don't know why people don't like me. I don't go to school, lost my job so I haven't stayed in touch with my ex-coworkers, I don't have money for hobbies and

and I'm not the type of person that approaches people on the street. I pretty much don't go out much out of the house right now.

My boyfriend on the other hand is popular and has lots of friends. He's always outside, chilling.

And I do feel like he is having a problem with the fact that I don't lead the same social life as he is.

The fact that bothers me is that I feel like he has been talking to his best friend about it. So his friend knows about it too (which makes me angry) and uses it against me.

Suddenly this friend is making strange comments. One day when I came from work I found my boyfriend at home chilling with his best friend and the friend said: "what are your plans for tonight? Hanging out with the girls?" And he went on and on about it.

Another time he said: "what do you do aside to sleeping and working? Do you go out?" Not to mention that look on his face. :S

And recently he said I have similarities with a hermit and asked whether I sometimes come out of the house. Every conversation is like that.

It's like he's making fun of me and I hate it when he tries to bring the subject up. What should I do? I can't avoid him forever.

And what about my boyfriend...should I tell him how it makes me feel? My boyfriend doesn't know how his friends comments make me feel. I feel like a loser. :(

ps. those comments started long before I still had a job, and are still going on even now I'm jobless. I think it's even worsen.

Try joining a club or singing group or church or social group that you can identify with. There are lots of them about and you will soon find one that you can connect with and perhaps you will find a girl that will become a close friend of yours. After all, your B/F seems to have his friend around a lot !

You sound rather shy and retiring and there is no harm in that but you have to remember that you cannot expect every one else to make the running. People like to be with people that they like and that they can have fun with and that they can identify with so you must try to develop your personality more. I know this can be difficult for some people but you must try otherwise you will always feel left out of life.

Maybe you should join an evening class to study a subject that you enjoy. In this way you may meet kindred spirits and have lots of fun. If there are one or two that you get chatting with at the end of the evening class, suggest you all three go out for a drink and see how things develop from there.

Education is the key. Education is self powering. Power yourself and don't rely on boyfriends... When you are something in your own eyes you will see how many people will gravitate towards you. Bottom line is this... if you don't like yourself, no one else will like you.
