What does it mean, "we need to talk"?

What does it mean when a girl tells you she has something she wants to talk to you about right after you did something nice and sweet for her? Is this a bad sign? Or is it a good thing?

It could mean anything but, I'd say if you just did something sweet to her and that is her reaction, she feels bad about being with someone who is nice that she just doesn't like and wants to break up.

People know saying "We need to talk." Leads to a break-up, so I feel if she wasn't going to break-up with you, she would have phrased it differently.

I have a bad feeling about this too -.- I just kinda did something sweet for her yesterday (Valentine's day). She said I was really sweet and now I just got a message saying she has something she wants to talk to me about.

Be strong, buddy. If you guys do break-up, take it like a man and don't ask for her back or to reconsider. She'll be caught off guard and respect you for it.

It just means she needs to talk to you about something and she needs your undivided attention when she does. It can be good or bad. For example, it could mean that she needs to tell you she's pregnant, which can be good or bad depending on the situation. It could mean she got a promotion and wants to tell you in private.

LoL if she's pregnant it's definitely a bad thing. I doubt she is tho, just sounds to me like a start of a "I like you a lot, you're really sweet but let's be friends" or "Let's not see each other anymore"

depends on her tone.. it could be a good thing, something very important, she has to tell you in private.. or something bad that she feels guilty about and needs to tell you in private later... sry I couldn't help more..

I was in class earlier so it was just a text msg. She was giggling and laughing last night when I talked to her. I'm not sure if it's a good thing when girls giggle/laugh at you. I asked her if it's a good sign she just said "depends" -.- Anyway, so I just took her laughing as an encouragement and a good sign.

It means that she needs to talk to you, it could be good or bad...one phrase doesn't always have a universal meaning

Its more often the start of a difficult conversation then an easy one, and you're likely to hear things you don't want to hear ... however, the end result can be a better relationship.

I am nervous, I just have a gut feeling that it will be bad and I do want to run away. She's a friend atm? We had a long history tbh. We used to be something more or less and I messed it up back then. I guess I'm chasing her now? We are rather complicated.
