As a young child, I knew that I wanted to wear high stiletto pumps and this was in a social environment where males weren't suppose to have such desires. Being as I was alone in my desire with no support, it caused me to think I was an alien or a defective human. The allure to wear heels went from being a simple want to a must have obsession because of being suppressed and ignored as my desire never received the fulfilment I needed. Under these circumstances, I learned the art of deceit as I connived and contrived many situations just to experience a few moments wearing them. Regrettably, my association with others was a type of surface comradeship, since giving them any inkling of my desire to wear heels would be look upon as a reason to be socially rejected. As life continued, I found out other guys also have similar desires. I realized my unwavering quest to wear heels is more human than society tried and tries to lead me and all of us to believe. Not every one develops such desires by who they are, but for those that do, people need a better understanding of the human condition, so there would be one less need or reason to be deceitful or not quite fully forthcoming to those you care the most for in order to truly share life's potentials to grow as complete as you can achieve.
So I think I understand more than most people why some women love wearing high heels. It is in their personality taste. All the other reasons ascribed are the perceived physical and aesthetic benefits.

heels were originally...for men
There was a king once that was "too short" for his liking, so he had his shoemaker make him a shoe that would make him "taller". Thus, the heel
True story. That's where they came from...women just sort of feminized them, just like they did Victorias Secret (the original store was for men only). It had a deers head overhead to signify, men only. It was supposed to help men pick out their womens underwear (for those, sexy nights)
...and again, women took it over (straight men won't go in for fear of being thought of as gay)
Hmm. I like being tall, haha. Very tall. Taller than most men around here.
I'm also a lot more comfortable in heels, than flat shoes (though, I have a pair or super tall platforms that are very comfortable, too). And they suit my style better.
I'm not looking to impress any man, especially since I have a boyfriend who is okay with the super tall heels/platforms :)
a girl walks differently when wearing high heels than when she's wearing flats or sneakers. The butt protrudes more and there's just more.. swagger. If you're up to it, try wearing someone's high heels and walk around the house when nobody's home. You'll see what I mean. It's sexy to look at, and it makes us feel sexy to walk like that.
im more comfortable in them, I can run in them, climb in them or whatever and I stumble around in a pair of flats, weird I know but that's the truth.

I've never heard from any guy that he feels intimidated by high heels... .
I wear heels because they make an outfit (i.e. dress, for example) look so much better. They also make the legs look longer and thinner. I don't care much about what guys think when I wear my heels.I don't think that it is intimidating to guys. Its just more feminine than wearing flats. I also wear them because its fun being taller. With a pair of tall high heels, I'm almost 6' tall.
the make women feel sexy and they think they look nice, its not necessarily about intimidating men, its probably more to attract men, or just to feel good
I wear them because I feel sexy in heels, and I'm short so they give me some extra leg :-)
Why would wearing heels intimidate a man? That doesn't make sense...I'm 5'1 and I love stilettos. they compliment any outfit. even white pumps and sweats look good together. stilettos are my only religion.
Pft. Intimidating to you. I love it when a girl wears high heels or stilettos.
"A girl wearing high heels is intimidating to a man and she realizes this."
What is this I don't even.
Have you ever been so far even as decided to use go want to look more like? Its sexy, feminine and looks good with what you're wearing. If you're intimidated by that, sorry
Maybe the guys they care about aren't intimidated.
