Yes, you do need to DTR, because if not, then you're just playing games. Communication is the number one thing in a relationship, and even though yes its working now, its not going to work well in the future if you can't even talk to each other and make sure you both are on the same page. Guessing games aren't fun, so being straight forward will make your life a lot easier. Plus, when you're straight forward and just ask questions like its no big deal, it comes off as you being confident, and thats going to make her 100 more attracted to you.

Abso-freakin-lutely. I have had that conversation, and it helped us get on the same page expectation wise, which helped us better serve each other in the areas we were looking for. I tend to initiate the conversation because I feel it's my responsibility to not play games with a girl, and to be open about my feelings for her.
If nothing physical is happening, then there should be a DTR conversation.
