Forget The Bible.
The modern Church in America led mostly by weak, Biblically ignorant and soft preachers who are scared to preach God's flaming hot word (Bible) due to fact that they don't want to offend anyone have caused a great reproach to Christianity. Their preaching is mostly all about how to better help yourself daily or be a better version of yourself than you were yesterday through their wordly philosophy and throw in one or two Bible scriptures taken out of context and call it a sermon.
This kind of watered down cotton candy preaching causes a weak Chruch that can't overcome sins in their lives and false converts that have no idea of what God's word actually says and teachers regarding all subjects on what God expects of his people.
It's Sunday. Can't Wait To Hear Some Lies. Yay!
God's word it's never popular nor would it ever be. When God's word is preached and taught uncompromised it strikes at the very core of sinful men making them angry and ashamed; That's why a Chruch that has many people in attedence is a major red flag 9 out of 10 times, because people hate God's raw uncut word. Therefore, they seek false teachers that are soft on the ears and tell people what they desire to hear lest they anger and offend them.
2 Timothy 4:1-4:
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers, and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
Spiritually malnourished.
As I stated in the previous stanza, the preachers are the ones mostly at fault at the dead Chruches here in the USA, but it's not exclusively all fault of their own. When professing Christians have a disdain for God's word and don't desire to hear truth. God sends them a punishment and a spiritual famine so that they won't hear his precious word taught.
Amos 8:11-12: “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord. They shall wander from sea to sea, And from north to east; They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord, But shall not find it.
Conclusion:
As professing Christians we must love the word of God wheather it hurts are feelings or not. I know God's word stings, but it's like medicine that our mom use to give us when we were sick as kids that leaves a bitter taste and out mouths, but healed our physical bodies. God's word is like that in a sense. Hard on the ears, but cleanses and heals us spiritually.
Hebrews 4:12-13:
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. and there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
PS: Beware of "Modern" Bible versions, Like ESV, NLT, NASB, NV, etc. These "Modern" versions have literally omitted whole verses and words like hell and heaven in certain scriptures. These modern versions are of Satan and watered down of God's word.
Matthew 23:14 and Acts 8:37 have been omitted from these modern versions just to point out a couple.

I suggest the NKJV Bible which is the one I use. It sounds like God's inspired word properly translated from the Greek language, not watered down versions like the modern ones I describe above.
