Can men be raped? A sexist culture? Equal rights should mean equal responsibilty?

Yes this issue bugs me. Okay feminist peeps that bugs me. Men get raped. No it does not make you less of a man? No it does not affect your sexual orientation.

Yes you can be raped by a woman. Yes you may respond. Yes you may become aroused it may feel good in someway .But that does not matter.

Would a guy who was abused as child abuse? No. He knows how much it hurts.

Difference between guys getting raped and girls? For girls there is help out there. Did you know in America more men are raped than women each year? Shocking? And why should a woman not be penalized?

Why should a woman reject a man who was raped? If he is drunk how can HE consent .And guys respond to touch they just do. No just because he came does not mean he wanted it.

Did you relized you raped more than his body? You rape his manhood. You rape his essence and his very being? I am not minimizing women being raped I am after all a female. But if women have equal rights shouldn't they have equal responsibility to all the men out there who have been violated?

I am sending you a hug. There is a support group called 1-6. It is time for a masculine movement . Never blame yourself. And if a girl rejects you because of it she is worth rejecting. Someone who can't see your worth is not worth your attention.

I was sexually abused by my 7th grade teacher. A WOMAN! Does that affect my sexual orientation no! I like guys maybe more because the abuser was a woman.

But before you blame yourself I ask you one question.

What would you tell someone else if they told you your story. You can heal. You never get over it but you can move on.

You did not choose rape but you can choose to be a Victor. Not a victim. And I would have no problem dating someone like that provided he dealt with it.

And just one more thing; it takes a man to cry now-a-days!

I have found that energy that I should have spent to heal was used to act.

I love you all you people out there. And this is coming from me a girl.

  • Thanks. I didn't know there were support groups out there for men. It's sad that people don't realize that anyone can get raped. I mean can't anyone get murdered? Can't anyone get robbed? Same goes for rape. It's no different. It's just as horrible as those other acts and isn't less limited.

That said I'm not sure if men are more raped than women. It's really hard to determine. With all the support and media pushing behind women speaking out about rape it is more common for rapist with a female victim to get accused and imprisoned than a rapist with a male victim. Often times believe it or not it's easier for a woman to speak out because she knows people will listen. Men not so much. This isn't hard facts, but I predict that there are way more men (percentage wise) who don't report being raped than women. Then the few who do rarely would anyone take it seriously to go to court and then winning the case is a whole other story along with the sentence. So in that sense it's hard to determine who gets raped more but it also shows that you can't go by the numbers and say women get raped more because really we can't possibly know.

I think the majority of rape for men probably happens behind bars. This still isn't okay, but I'm sure that's where most of it happens. One thing I never liked is how people are sexist towards the ways a woman can rape a man. There are many ways. In fact just as many ways as a man raping a woman.

-Black mail - "Remember that fotage I caught of you doing this? How would you like for our boss to see that?"

-Drugs - I mean this is self-explanatory right? In fact this one is the most reported because this one allows for a better chance of winning the case. Judges believe this one the most even though the others I mention I'm sure happen too.

-Sheer intimidation - Not every man is strong willed and confident. Not every woman is passive. There are some aggressive women out there. I've never been raped but I have been sexually assaulted by a woman before. I'd say she's kind of aggressive and weird person while I'm rather shy and quiet. Guys can have mental breakdowns. There are many reasons as to why a guy may not want to really have sex with her but does it anyway. In fact why would it be different than the reasons a woman would have sex with a man even though she doesn't want to?

-Strength - Not every man is a jock and not every woman is nonathletic. Not to mention things like the guy being handicapped or mentally challenged.

  • Nice take. It's always bothered me that some people focus so much on female rape/molestation and just sort of forget about men. I also would never think rape was anyone's fault, male or female and I don't know why people say that to victims.

  • good take, i agree with it but sadly there are laws in place in my country that puts guys at a disadvantage in any court case related to marriage, sexuality and rape..

thankfully the people who put those laws there - the "Catholic Bishops Commission of the Philippines - CBCP") will finally start to lose all their political strength and authority in current rallies..

  • Wow thanks for taking notice that men get raped more than women. There're so may support groups and numbers for women who have been raped but for men there are very little points of contacts. Most of the time it's in prisons but no one cares about that. Rape is bad no matter who it happens to most women think it just happens to women. It's good that you notice this because if a guy were to post this he'd be called a sexist fool. Thanks.

    • Well i think male rape is worse. just cuz it is much harder to lose a peice of your manhood.

  • i really dislike the picture at the end. the tag line "real men get raped" just doesn't sit right with me, it sounds as though it is promoting male rape, like your not a real man unless you have been raped.

maybe its just me, but i think the designers should have thought of something else other than "real men get raped"

good take though, and i totally agree, its nothing to be ashamed of, and there should be more support out there for male rape victims.

    • I was thinking that too, like they could have worded that better

    • Im sorry i have seen when guys try to come out and are called sissies or gay. so i want then to know they are no less sexy or masculine

    • The logical equivalent or "contrapositive" of that statement is, "If you do not get raped, then you are not a real man." So, "if you want to be a real man, you should go ahead and get raped." O. o

  • I am feminist but I feel surprise that people act like men can't get rape or anything and I am thinking they are bunch of morons. How do people NOT know that men can get rape too?

    • It boggles my feminist mind to ;)

    • Right like for example you can rape your five year old son that's rape or a teacher having sex with a 15 year old student that's rape why don't people understand that.

    • The problem lies within the fact that feminists (not equalists!) automatically assume that females have it worse, while that certainly isn't always the case

  • I'm aware of men getting raped but I would really like to know the sources you pulled your numbers from. I guessing this article is addressing rape on men and statutory rape. Years of abuse since childhood can have an affect on sexual orientation. The victim can indeed become the abuser. It doesn't always happen but it can depending on the situation and conditioning.

I did google the statistics myself and the majority of men raped is while they're in prison. Male on male rape is more common then rape of males by females. But yes a male can be raped by a female whether through coercion, blackmail, or drugs/alcohol.

  • Thank you for writing this, I'm a survivor of a very brutal attack.

    • So sorry 😢 i was sexually abused as a kid but for men it is different do check out 1 in6 men though you can message me if you want to talk

    • Thank you, it was a long time ago.

  • Doesn't matter. Rape is wrong no matter who does it, and who they do it to.

  • of course it happens. but how do you define male rape? I've seen guys post on here about girls lying about being raped, because the sexual encounter wasn't really rape, but they pretended like it was... and I heard about how guys have the whole forced to penetrate rapes, so does that count as rape too?

    • Rape is unwanted sexual touch Like if a guy is drunk he can't consent either but than he enjoyed it... No its rape rape is so hard to definw

    • it is. that definition could also be sexual assault. maybe it should all just be called sexual assault.

  • I've never heard of a man getting raped outside of prisson though little boys yes but man I personally never have

    • It is very rare for an adult male to get raped outside of a (aptly named) penal institution.

    • @zagor well it is rarely reported

    • I have it's terrible. ...

  • Yes anyone can get raped, not just women

    • True that I hate seeing men and women being violated... it makes me cry hearing their stories...

    • Anything that involves rape I hate it

  • true. very good take. this is one of the shit men get but still if a men said that i was raped most of the girls definitely dont date him so bad.

    • I would. i dont give a f what others say they are ignorant and deserving someone like that who has the strength to get through it

    • If i may werr you raped?

    • no, i wasn't raped by anyone. just saying

  • It doesn't only happen in prisons. I was once raped by three men. The only saving grace was that I had received anal sex from men before, so it wasn't as brutal as it would be for someone without experience.

    • Oh i am so sorry. ouch. You are very strong to have made it through it all. You seem not to be victim but rather a Victor as you have triumphed sharing. But dont down talk your struggles as that would be minimizing your victories. stay strong You are incredible

    • There is no saving grace it was rape

  • Yes, real men can get raped by a women, but it depends on the circumstances.

  • This has an excellent message but is filled with so many inaccuracies, the biggest is blaming feminism. If any men feel they're being discriminated against, their concerns need to be directed to:

National Coalition for Men founded 1981 - NCFM is the United States' oldest generalist men's rights organization.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Coalition_for_Men

Men's rights movement - It branched off from the men's liberation movement in the early 1970s.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men%27s_rights_movement

Men's liberation movement - It emerged in the late 1960s and 1970s in Western Culture, alonsgide and often in response to the women's movement and feminism."
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men%27s_movement

These organizations have been around since the women's right's movements, so it's not feminists fault that men's concerns aren't being heard/addressed.

    • I thank you for providing info to these movements, but I have to point something out. I'm not trying to be a jerk, and you have been helpful, but feminism has DIRECTLY attributed to this problem. Feminism has shut down male spousal abuse centers and meeting for male rape victims on more than one occasion.

    • Look im just saying women should be punished for rape as well

    • @DeltaDanner ~ If feminist did shut down these centers & meetings, why didn't the National Coalition for Men do anything? What was their response? So who's really doing men a disservice?

    • Show All
  • On a case by case women do tend to be more sympathetic of men that have been raped than other guys, but what we really need is a big public message that this is happening to men, and to help them find support groups. That message should also make it clear that this is a serious issue that shouldn't be made fun of.

That is where feminism starts getting in our way. It opposes any organized attempt to bring attention to this issue. You see when you start trying to organize the extremists start coming out to oppose you. As it stands now opposing any feminist now matter how wrong she might be just makes guys look sexist or ignorant in our culture so the message is lost. As a result men get very little representation in mainstream feminism.

What we really need is more women like you speaking up, since you won't come off like a sexist pig that can't stand that women are equal. When a guy brings it up we just get accused of trying to distract others from the "real" issues that feminism needs to be addressing. It is a lot harder for the extremists to accuse other women of being sexist against women by bringing up male issues. Then we can start getting a movement together to talk about this and address the issue.

I have never been raped, but as things stand now, I know there is no way I would ever tell anyone if it did happen. We just don't live in a culture we guys can talk about things like that, especially if the guy is raped by a woman.

    • What makes it worse is that he fights back he goes to jail...

    • I know what you mean. I remember hearing from a guy that had a girl follow him into the men's bathroom, and she stuck her hand down his pants trying to have sex with him after he said now, and he had to throw her off of him. He was terrified she might lie and claim he attacked her. He shouldn't have to feel that kind of fear. Virtually no one is going to believe that a bigger guy got sexually assaulted by a smaller woman. Even if they do believe it they don't take it seriously.

    • Np were you raped,

    • So hey if you want to chat i am monsters username

  • Thanks. As a victim of rape I have no voice. My life was destroyed. The effects are far reaching and have resulted in me being isolated from people and society. Now I am just a ghost who moves about unable to find simple normalcy. I am now friendless, and compleatly solitary. The only thing I enjoy anymore is long walks in nature. Just serving my time until death.

    • No! Please you have thr power. Even if you did not than! There are a few support things out there. I beleive in you Dont give them that power. You are not alone.1in 6 before 18 boys get raped before 18. Please please I know from my experience it is hard people just don't think women rape so not true. It is not to late to get help. Please let me know if there is anything a I can do. A friend of mine once said who by the way is a guy who was abused that please exscues how blunt it will be. The groin area can either be used for the most intense pleasure or most intense pain. Example sex or getting kicked in the sack. Example an act of love or an act of violation. You are not alone i would hug you if i could and if you want Check out one in six men by the way it has a lot of good stuff.

    • You know 😉 you can also see yourself as a victim over it.

    • Holy shit man... Im sorry to hear what happened, But... surely this incident would have no effect on any of those other things right? I mean, Rape is terrible, But, I dont really see it being 'life destroying' for the victim.

  • Good take, there are many kinds of sexism that men can't be raped is one of them.

Sexual abuse of children by women constituted 25% of the sexually abused victims from a population of over one million abused children. This statistic is thought to be underestimated due to the tendency of non-disclosure by victims.

Sure 25% (thought underestimated ) is far less then the 75% males child abuses, but most people see child abuses as ONLY males, that is still far from the truth.

See: Boroughs, Deborah S. (2004). "Female sexual abusers of children". Children and Youth Services Review 26 (5): 481. doi:10.1016/j. childyouth.2004.02.007.
