There was a scientific study that actually got women to handle and pick measured cylinder objects of different sizes that they would want as their life long partner's penis size and one they'd want in a one night stand.

The average penis size is 5.17 inches/13.2 cm long and 4.56 inches/11.6 cm in girth (circumference around the penis). This was done by the biggest most up to date study that only took into consideration measurements that were performed by the medical examiner instead of the volunteer self reporting them. It included over 15,000 men.

Now to the results:

For a one time partner, the average girl picked a length of 6.4 inches/16.3 cm and a girth( or circumference) of 5.0 inches/12.7 cm. For a life long partner they preferred a length of 6.3 inches/16.0 cm and a girth(circumference) of 4.8 inches/12.2 cm. On average girls prefer above average length and slightly above average girth, so its bigger than average, but not much bigger.

Now thats the "average" girl. There's girls that like it bigger and there's girls that like it smaller. There's girls for everybody. Also just having the ideal size isn't going to cause great sex by itself. You still have to consider the other factors and fulfill their needs. And if you're under sized, try to make up for it with great oral skills etc.

One of the drawbacks to this study was that it was a small sample size. There should be follow up studies with larger numbers of girls. And just because they didn't end the relationship over a penis being too big doesn't mean it was uncomfortably big.

And i mentioned it because i thought the point you were trying to make was that more broke up with their partners over being too small then too large, meaning being big isn't usually a problem, implying that the average size prefered should be bigger. It might be if there were more girls in the study. But if we had the info i mentioned, we would know if bigger penis's caused as much discomfort as a small penis causes disatisfication in relationships on average. If it did, then it would point to the fact the they would want something in the middle on average, like the results show. If bigger penis's didn't cause lower satsification as much as small penises did with girls who experiences both, then it would probably point to the fact that the girls who had bigger probly picked bigger, and the girls who haven't probably picked around...

I tried to understand that weird graph Fig 4 about „tried penis length and width“, but it made me all confused. Aren’t there supposed to be 75 lines, one line for every participant? But instead there are zigzag lines and even less than 20.. does that mean 55 declined to answer what’s the biggest and smallest they had? Also Fig 3 is hilarious. 3 women thought the average penis is 6 inch wide and long and 1 woman thought it’s actually 8 inch long and 5.5 inch wide? LOL Doesn’t that mean she would break up with someone when his penis is say 6 inch long and 5 inch wide, because she thinks it’s way below average? xD Well, most participants were white or Asian. So that already skews the results. It was to meant to find a reference size that most girls would pick if they could, so guys can compare and see how they stack up, because its a hard topic to get answers for and its a sensitive topic for guys, whether or not girls don't see the importance. So they could see if theyre within range of it. Even though it can vary just like penis size does in general, but there would be a range that most girls would pick. But a problem with this study is that it didn't show if there were clusters of preferred sizes. Like on a scatter plot graph , if around 30 percent choose around one size range, like a cluster of dots around one size range, 3030 percent were clustered around another size range, and 30 percent were clustered third size range, with the other 10 percent being outliers and choosing the extremes with big and small. *there should only be one 30 in 3030 There are three different ranges that are equally commonly preferred, but we would never know that if they just averaged them out and picked a middle spot that could hide all that information. Depending on how much of a difference there was between the ranges, it couldve misrepresented the results and lead people to think that it was mostly the middle range when it was actually three completely different preferred ranges. For the sizes they choose, Im sure girls would be happy with a size close to it. Like you mentioned, even if you prefer a specific size or height if you could choose, you could still like a range around it and be happy with those heights and sizes. For the personal question about their partners size affecting their sexual satsifaction, i was referring to their past partners, i wouldn't really expect them to answer about their current partner although, the question should be left in for the percentage who will answer. But have them separate, past partners and current partner questions. And for the biggest and smallest they had, the farthest point of the line on the left is the smallest that girl had and where it ends on the right is the biggest, it confused me at first too. But im not sure how many answered, if it was a portion or if they had a bunch of girls who picked the same biggest and smallest size. That could have an effect. Is it just me or are guys way more worried about their dick size and how it compares to other dick sizes than girls are worried about their boobs? Self esteem comes from within. Nobody else can give you that. You’re foolish to think your self esteem is solely depended on what your girlfriend says, regardless what you think of yourself or worse, that her words can fix what you feel. I’m gonna be honest here and say people with egos that fragile are simply off-putting. A direct question should be answered with an direct answer. The reason why i and most guys think that she's asking for a self esteem confirmation when she asks "do i look fat" right before going out instead of actually asking if she's fat and wanting an honest opinion is because it is considered common knowledge. Even before i noticed girls youd see it on tv , movies pretty often, radioshow hosts would talk about it, common topic for comedians. And then from interacting with girls its usually true, i guess the best way to explain it was it somehow became common knowledge that every guy understands whether he gives the answer or not. Another meaningless study. There's only 1 study on this topic worth running.

1) women state their preferred size.

2) women are shown a variety of false penises attached to mannequins and pick the sizes they a) find acceptable and b) find ideal, based on sight.

3) the women record what they believe the size of the penises are, based on sight.

4) the women try a selection of dildos corresponding in size to the mannequins and record on a scale how much they enjoyed them.

5) cross reference what the women initially say they like, what they believe they will like based on sight, and what they actually like from experience.

I'm of the opinion that a lot of the measurements reported for steps 1 and 2 would be a lot higher than the numbers reported for steps 3 and 4.

In my experiences with art, drafting, and architecture, most people are generally bad at assessing dimensions based on sight and memory, and women in particular are well known to perform worse than men on spatial reasoning tests.

The problem is that the survey was administered visually and most people have a really bad sense of how big a thing is just based on looking at a thing. The test used disembodied cylinders sitting on a table. That's hard to judge the size of for a lot of people, especially when it lacks anything relative. It's especially hard to judge whether you'd find it pleasurable since the sense you're using to determine pleasure is touch, not sight.

I've got to admit, I am somewhat surprised. I've seen other studies that put the average penis size at around 5.5 inches instead of 5.17, which would put a 6-inch penis at the 65th percentile or so. But, who knows?
