Dear Women - This Is NOT What Feminism is About

Dear Women - This Is Not Feminism

There are many things that get on my nerves but one of them is people who think they're promoting feminism, but are just being down right jerks.

1. When you slut shame other girls

Is that girl on instagram wearing a small swimsuit? unless the swimsuit has a swastik print or something, then who the fuck cares!

2. Thinking that being a feminist automatically means you deserve respect

Yes Taylor, other women have the right to make a joke about you, the fact you're a woman doesn't mean you have to be allies. Feminism ain't a cult.

I guess that by this logic we're not allowed to bad-mouth female murderers, because they're women too.

3. Degrading men

You all complain about how women are used as sexual props in men's music videos but this is okay?

Dear Women - This Is NOT What Feminism is About

Dear Women - This Is NOT What Feminism is About

No, it does not make you a 'strong woman'. You're no better than the guys who use women as props.

4. Feminism is made to support both genders, not to make females 'superior'

Again, like my last point, the core definition of feminism is 'gender equality'. Since when acting like women are superior to men is considered gender equality?

5. Not standing up for transgender people

Apparently 'girl code' is not available if you're a transgender woman.

Why you ask?

~ because they're not "ReAl" women WooOoOoO ~

(Didn't know you need a woman certificate damn)

6. Calling girls who put makeup on "fake" or shit like that

Again, are they hurting you by putting makeup on their own faces? no? then shut the fuck up

7. THIS SHIT OH MY GOD

Dear Women - This Is NOT What Feminism is About

8. Being racist

Do I need to say anything else?

9. Acting like some overly-popular white pop singer is the queen of feminism just because she claims to be a feminist

Yeah I mean who gives a shit about women who actually do things to promote feminism like Angela Davis and Laverne Cox, if they're not an overrated pop singer, who cares! this mediocre gal who did nothing other than tweeting "yeah I'm a feminist" is the most powerful feminist this world has encountered!

10. Treating female nipples like they're voldemort

Female breasts are not a sexual organ, stop treating them like they are. The only difference between male and female breasts is that female breasts are a little bit more inflated, to, you know, feed babies. Are you scared of water bottles?

Dear Women - This Is NOT What Feminism is About

11. Instead of helping women who have abusive partners, you're calling them 'weak' and 'pathetic'.

In case you haven't noticed, you are a part of the problem.

12. Also, shaming sex workers

Doing porn is not illegal, and it's the goddamn person's choice! And I'm saying this again, are they hurting you by doing porn? no? THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP.

13. Being homophobic

Again, being a feminist means supporting equal rights, not having double standards.

14. Thinking women dress for men

"oh sweety you should put some weight on, guys don't like stick figures!"

"don't wear red lipstick! guys hate that!"

"oh my are those high waisted pants? darling no guy would want you if you dress like that"

  • “While I don’t agree with everything about the movement, I can say that I identify as a feminist.”
Oh, here we fucking go. This is the deal breaker of all deal breakers, gentlemen. In the real world it’s actually rare to encounter a true to-the-core feminist. You know: the obese, tatted, short-purple-haired losers with black rim glasses and IQ’s of about 105 (that think they’re in the 130’s because they went 40k into debt for a degree that qualified them to work at the mall).
However, you will regularly meet ample quantities of American women that lean towards the ideology with less conviction but are still attached to the principles enough to cause a man potential agony. These women must be avoided at all costs. False rape accusations, using the system against you and simply being an all-around insufferable bitch are just surface scratchers for what this beast is capable of. Show this one absolutely no mercy and ensure that she spends the remainder of the evening snuggled up with her precious felines.
    Solution:
Say the following: “Well, I can say that I identify as a man that’s getting the fuck away from you then.” Also, feel free to leave her strong independent ass with the bill. No, not half of it, all of it—drinks are on her for the night. Hearing the words “I’m a feminist” in any way, shape or form should result in you making a beeline for the door with your car keys in hand. Consider it a matter of principle.
Also, just in case she decides to make a scene in front of the other patrons as you’re making your exit, turn around and address everyone and say, “Well, how long would you stick around if your date just told you she contracted AIDS from a gangbang?” Then continue leaving. Sure, it’s a lie… but who gives a shit? The whole establishment thinks a feminist has AIDS—I see no problem with that.

    • If you stick her with the bill and shout she has AIDS, she'll write a blog about how you "raped" her at the restaurant. In fact, that'll most likely jump start her career as a professional victim.

    • @MaskedSanity. Lol. Both his comment and your reply were hillarious.

    • Real feminists are short with purple hair... This is you taking yourself seriously , or are you spoofing yourself.

  • I like the subject issue, just would like to see a reference to what the Feminist Movement was actually about, which was getting equal rights for women. Nowadays, as you've mentioned, somehow the later generations of women are re-branding Feminism as meaning something entirely different, like women should be treated better, pitied more, never face harsh word, or never be judged, basically to be exempted from everything, which is so far from the the original cause it's painful to hear about.
I just stay out of it, but honestly, it makes me ashamed of my own gender to see these women walking naked in the streets claiming it's in the name of Feminism, or asking not to be called a slut just because they're a woman (who acts slutty) but shouldn't face criticism, even though a slutty man can still be called a slut and no one bats an eyelid. Women seem to be portraying themselves as fragile, delicate beings, who need to be constantly protected or valued more because our egos can't take it.
Our female ancestors who fought like hell to be recognized as equals and to be respected would be so damn ashamed of what women of today have become.

  • Yes, thank you. I came into this post worried it'd be another post critical of feminism, or misrepresenting it badly. But this is definitely one of the best feminist posts I've seen, so thank you for that.

  • "treating female nipples like they're voldemort" - possibly my favorite one lol but this is accurate, women (or anyone) who do these things shouldn't call themselves feminists.

  • I cannot help but take issue with number four - feminism is NOT about the equality of females to males in society, except in the Animal Farm kind of way, "All animals were created equal, but some are just more equal than others."

Don't get me wrong, you do the same job, just as well as the guy next to you? You should get the same pay, it should not even be questioned. And that is just one example of the kind of equality I think we should have, but sadly, do not.

But when you argue that women should be provided opportunities that men are barred from on the grounds of "equality" then you have lost sight of what it truly means to be equal. Female only scholarships, for example.

If feminism was truly about equality then we would see the movement:
=> Argue for the female draft or for the abolition of the draft altogether.
=> Argue against the laws which force men who are not the biological fathers of children to support children from a previous relationship on the basis that she was convincing when she lied about the child (ren) being his. If the man loves the child (ren) or has a desire to he could chose to support them. Why should this be the only form of deception or fraud which carries an expectation of placing a burden on the victim in our legal system?
=> Argue for laws which recognize the need to treat both the victims and the aggressors of crimes the same regardless of gender/sex/whatever. Example:
An underage girl is sexually abused by a man. Whatever happens: raped in prison, killed by a neighbor, prison/jail/probation... he got what he deserved or didn't get enough.
An underage boy is sexually abused by a woman. She gets pregnant, she gets what she deserves - child support from the boy. Where is the feminist outrage over the treatment of this victim?
=> In many states sex offenders face the risk of Civil Commitment. In NJ (one example) only males face this. The evaluation requires actuarial tests (MnSOST, RASSOR, etc.) which only exist for adult males. Where is the outcry for the need to treat dangerous women like dangerous men?

Real equality means accepting that sometimes, when a female screws up, they should not get a free pass or a slap on the wrist, a male wouldn't, and working towards leveling the playing field for the betterment of society, at the expense of occasionally looking bad... briefly. As well as arguing for the right to everything the men seem automatically entitled to.

  • What I find fascinating about feminism is how much damage control feminists pump out on a daily basis.

  • I don't see what any of that had to do with feminism. I don't disagree with what you said I just don't see how it's about feminism.

    • I don't see the point if this. I've never heard anyone say this stuff because they are a feminist and I hear plenty of non feminists talk this way. There doesn't seem to be any consistency.

  • Feminism is like a disease, much like liberalism. (differentiating leftism and liberalism) Because people simplify it and change its meaning. It's definition becomes "equality", rather than being based off of the fundamental values it's actually about.

Look. When you're talking about a movement like feminism, "definitions" don't cut it. They do not explain every--or pretty much any--faucet of the system. You have to dig deeper than that. Your idea of 3rd wave feminism *sounds great*. It really does. But *that is what makes it so bad*, because it makes it so much easier to justify the "patriarchy" and. It shifts your perspective on men *and* women to where you don't even realize it. It is insidious, like a disease.

Hitler--yes, Godwin's law in action--formed the "National Socialist Party", yet, he was far, far, far from socialist. He was so far on the right that he pretended to be a socialist. It's the same concept. If you just looked at the definition of "National Socialist Party", then you would have been like "Oh! That's great! Worker's rights, equality, and humanism!" That is the kind of danger I'm talking about.

Fundamental of any kind of feminism: *Women have been oppressed for thousands of years.* This notion is incorrect. If you want to say that it is correct, it is severely insulting to women and men. Because if women were *the only group* to ever be oppressed for so, so, so long without a whimper--looking back on a history spattered with the blood of dictators and the oppressed rising up against their oppressors.

This changes your perspective and plants these seeds of resentment against men, along with painting your perspective on women to be weak, stupid bitches who need to be guided like children. I choose not to believe that. I believe that women were satisfied with the state of things until they weren't, post industrial revolution when things became safer.

Even if you're for the general notion of "equality" that seed is still there: "Men oppressed women for so long." Feminism *needs* oppression to exist for it to survive. The wage gap, rape paranoia, blowing issues out of proportion and even creating entirely false ones. Being a "good feminist" dulls your mind to the objectivity.

In case you haven't noticed... you are part of the problem, OP. and I'm not blaming you for it or trying to be caustic. I was a feminist most of my life, also because I thought it simply meant "equality".

    • I missed some stuff typing too fast. The important part too. "Because if women were *the only group* to ever be oppressed for so, so, so long without a whimper, then there is no better argument for innate female inferiority. I believe that if women felt oppressed, then they would have fought or used their brains to combat that oppression. I believe that men protected and died bloody and horribly for women. And I believe that women were perfectly happy with that arrangement. What would you choose? Rubbing your hands raw 8 hours a day doing housework, or plowing the field for 12 hours a day in the hot sun or dying bloody on a battlefield or suffocating in a coal mine? Both had gender roles, and both were fine with it. It's only after the industrial revolution feminism came about. This is also when everything became magnitudes *easier*. Women didn't want the obligations that men had, because it was damn hard and dangerous work. When it became safe, they wanted, asked, then got it.

  • FIRST! Justin Beiber's pale butt looks is not sexy. Ok, phew, got that out of the way.

I'm very tired of Taylor Swift's brand of feminism, it's more girl clique than anything. It feels very superficial.

  • Feminism is just a women's advocacy movement, and people don't agree on how to advocate for women. As such some women think sex workers are harmful to women, and others think it can empower women. You can be a feminist and completely be against everything another feminist standards for. Feminism is pretty much whatever the person wants it to be as long as they think they are advocating for women.

Things like racism has nothing to do with feminism. Historically feminism has always been about well to do white women that cared nothing for the problems of women of color. Those racist white women were actually the ones that started the feminist movement. I am not saying modern feminists are racists, but rather that you can be a feminist and still be racist. What you are talking about sounds more like egalitarianism than feminism.

  • Woo, preach it!

  • No one understands how much I agree with you 👍😭🙌

  • ☝☝☝☝ right on

  • My only issue with number 3 is that I feel like it's not so much women degrade men as it is we correct certain men in our lives on how they act and treat us. But if we dare speak, we degrade them. It seems to me that most men that are upset that I say something to them about anything that's critical are upset that I'm not staying 'in my place' or at least that's how it is where I live.

  • I never understood what's the problem with showing naked women. I sure don't give a shit when they show a naked men. I am able to enjoy a woman's naked body without thinking less of them. I don't get how objectifying them means I automatically lack respect for them. That's the way I see it anyway.

I don't agree that breasts aren't sexual organs. They are definitely not reproductive organs but they are sexual alright. Some women can even orgasm from them and you can bet they're going to be caressed or sucked on any time sex happens. I think they earned their place as sexual organs.

    • but... men also get off from that... in fact men's nipples are more sensitive... so I don't see where you're going. by your logic male nipples are also considered as sexual organs but it's okay to see them in public?

  • Preach!! Thank out for this 👏 You're so right!

  • Fuckin awesome!

  • 6. don't call females who wear makeup fake.

    8. stop being racist.

    9. make sure to be a hipocrit by criticizing a famous celebrity because she is pop and white.

    great mytake! ;)

    • I agree with #11 though.

  • 2, 3, 9 were mind-blowingly accurate. I get so sick of all the feminist shit myself these days. No wonder women are so confused, don't know what they want in life, and can't handle relationships with men so they turn gay or bi. They make a joke of themselves.

    • Whoo. Sexist and homophobic at the same time.

    • @cipher42 do you think gay men are "masculine" or "feminine"? If you think they're "feminine", you're a homophobe yourself.

    • @cipher42 I might be bi too but does it make me "feminine" oh well I guess it does, who give a shit what you say anyways.

  • Biggest crock of shit, ever.

Feminism is a lot of things, but the only thing that comes close in a word is cancer.

Unfortunately, in the west, it's in stage 4.

There is nothing honest or accurate in feminist academia. All of the theories are founded in complete bullshit -- anti-male war propaganda.

Feminism (and the movement that spawned it) is 167 years of historically stripping men of their rights and freedoms, women of any obligation.

Seriously, we're so fucking tired of listening to feminists tell us what feminism is and isn't. You had your chance. You spent 167 years establishing a history of being the exact opposite of what you say you are and the exact match of what you swear you aren't.

    That ship has sailed, cupcake.

    • I think I just experienced my first man crush.

    • Fuck you, the only reason you hate feminism is because it threatens little shits like u who sit on a computer screen all day and expect your mummy and your wife to make your meals and Rock it down in your crib. Real men don't have an issue with feminism because they are strong and confident enough to have a wife or daughter who isn't suppressed under the assed hand of a man. Just because you've probably already failed life (30 fucking 5 years old and hating on GAG) doesn't mean you gotta pass shit to young woman trying to make the world a more equal place for men, woman and children and eliminating shit sitters like u who contribute nothing but dry dust to the world. Go and get a life, do your job and treat your woman right.

    • @Sophiaaaaaa "Fuck you..." "... the only reason you hate feminism is..." "Real men..." "Go and get a life..." "... treat your woman right." Perfect childish feminist response. Laced with aspersions of hatred, charges of "not being a real man," and calls for treating women... "right." Whatever that means. You have no idea why I hate feminism because you're not old enough and not smart enough, and you lash out in hatred because you'd rather hurt other people than take a look at yourself or your own busted ideology. I might be a failure, but it took me 35 years. You're a fucking failure already and you haven't even started your adult life yet. Hateful fucking bitch.

  • I agree mostly.

Not completely with you on the degradation/objectification issue, people find the human body beautiful (or other things...) I see no problem with depicting it, or displaying images of peoples bodies (in general).

    • I think so too, hence why I also made the 'nipple' point. There's nothing wrong with the human body, I have no issues with half naked women or men in pop music videos, but the point was that 'feminists' complain about women being sexualised in music videos but then go aroung sexualizing men and acting like it's an empowering move. I hope you understand

    • Oh okay, I agree that their inconsistency on that is just silly.

  • You forgot:
    1. fat shaming is different then caring about you and your health v by telling you that you're obese.
    2. It's okay if someone's skinny.

    • oh wow totally forgot to add that, thank you!

    • Well you got to kind of fat shame because its just very unhealthy and feminists encourage women to be fat by looking after them selves poorly and we don't want an epidemic of fat people. We should be promoting to be a healthy size or weight.
