1. It's risky when you're with a different person.

You will get caught. You will have to make up stories to cover up previous lies to the point that the lie becomes bigger and bigger. Your lie will become so big that you will fall into the Hole of Deceit, and people will never take your word for something ever again.

2. Your boyfriend/girlfriend will feel jealous of your other boyfriend/girlfriend.

Jealousy is big. Jealousy is painful. Your boyfriend/girlfriend may think of nasty things to do to you and your other boyfriend/girlfriend. If you really care about your boyfriend/girlfriend, then you would not let your boyfriend/girlfriend get into trouble, will you? But alas, such consequences will ensue when you cheat.

3. Jealousy can lead you to lose a boyfriend/girlfriend or lose all of them.

Your boyfriend/girlfriend will feel very uncomfortable around your other boyfriend/girlfriend. Your boyfriend/girlfriend's feelings may get hurt, and you may get dumped because of your choice to cheat.

4. Deception makes you an untrustworthy partner.

You lie to your partner about the existence of another partner. If you get caught, then your deception will just make you an untrustworthy partner. If you tell one partner that he/she is your one true love just so you can have sex with him/her, and that person finds out that you really have another partner, that person will feel used.

5. Cheating is a way for you to evade communication skills or neglect to improve your communication skills with your partner.

If you think you can find a new partner who can meet your needs better than your other partner, then that just shows that your communication is poor enough to not be able to communicate your needs to your existing partner.

6. If you are a man or a woman and allow your so-called "evolved instincts" to dictate your behavior, then you really have no self-control in your life.

People have self-control or are expected to have self-control. If you cheat because of some kind of evolutionary excuse, then that just shows you are willing to allow your biology to take control over your mind. You should exert self-control over yourself. If you do not, then you need to be medicated.

7. Revenge just causes more suffering in the world that is already full of suffering. What you should do is offer forgiveness, but do not let yourself fall into the path of the wrongdoers.

Sexual infidelity, or adultery, causes suffering. Revenge may bring a temporary joy of equalness, but in reality, it just makes the situation worse, because you are causing more suffering. Moreover, if you cheat as revenge, then you have reduced yourself to that of the wrongdoer, and you should be ashamed of yourself for falling to his/her level.

8. Your excuses for cheating are undebatable.

Adultery is wrong. No excuses.

9. You are a pathologically sadistic, selfish, low-life monster, if you cheat. Do not be one.

Sexual infidelity is evil. Do not support evil. Do not do evil things. Forgive people who do evil things, but condemn people who stubbornly refuse to change their evil choices.

10. You will feel bad afterwards.

You will feel regret. Regret for bad choices is normal and proves that you do have a good conscience.

  • 8. Why is it "wrong"? And if there is some reason why is clearly "wrong," how "wrong" are we talking about? Like, on a scale of chewing with your mouth open... to murdering someone, with an orange glowing hot crowbar shoved repeatedly in and out of each oriface of theirs... Just how "wrong" is adultery?

    9. Why is it "evil"?

    • If you really don't see what's wrong with breaking someone else's trust and being deceptive, then you have some serious problems you need to work out

    • @Sirakyus if you can't describe in simple words why it's wrong, then maybe you need to rethink the general default rule that it's "just wrong, because..."

    • ... Wow... I just said that cheating involves breaking somebody's trust... How much clearer can I get than that? If you're willing to go out to sleep with somebody else when the other person expects you to be be exclusive just to them, then you broke their trust and are a selfish person.

    I've learned that women are incapable of being faithful. If she's been out of your sight longer than 30 seconds, she's sucked someone else off. I accept that, and I don't get upset over it. Whatever, it was bound to happen eventually. It's their nature, they can't control it, and *I* sure as hell can't change it, so why fight it or get upset over it?

    That means that I won't be faithful to a woman, either. If I don't cheat on a girl, it's just because the opportunity didn't present itself.

  • Cheating is for weak people. U don't like the person u are in relationship with - break up. That's the most ethical thing to do.

    • Okay, let me clarify because I didn't thoroughly revise my comment before I posted it. My point is and what I'm trying to say is, that people in general just have empathy for those who have been in a relationship and were cheated on, in contrast to those who never experienced a relationship or have never dated anyone, no one addresses the loneliness one feels for always being single. It just feels as bad as being cheated on
