Sorry... Only Two Genders Exist

Anything taken to an extreme will often be looked down upon. You can't just take an extreme stance in life and expect to have no one expressing disapproval of it. You can't mutilate your genitalia because you believe that you are not 'assigned' the right gender and expect for everyone to think that it's normal. There are no unicorn genders. There are biologically two genders whether that offends you or not. Having a penis or vagina is not a social construct. Thank you, have a good a day.

  • My gut instinct here is the same as yours.

    But, I mean... it's always important to at least *try* to play the empathy game, no matter how "weird" the other side is.
    If you do that here, then, you'll realize that there is... well... there's *something* going on there.
    I don't know what the fuck it is, and I don't claim to have even the first iota of understanding of it. But, if you look at **what these people are willing to put themselves through**, then, I mean... obviously the "mismatch" isn't total bullshit. It CAN'T be.

    In this case, I'm thinking about transsexuals who undergo M-to-F reassignment. (F-to-M is a pretty easy transition, physically speaking, and the resulting trans-men almost always blend in flawlessly as passable men. But M-to-F is... another story.)

    In the case of guys who want to undergo M-to-F reassignment, ALL of the following are true:

    • They KNOW that they'll basically *never* be able to pass as women in greater society, except momentarily around a few drunk and/or exceptionally gullible people.

    • They KNOW that the resulting "womanhood" will be utterly dependent on a LIFELONG supply of injected hormones, and that, if that supply is EVER interrupted -- by poverty, by insurance-coverage changes, by political upheaval, by natural disaster, by ANYTHING -- they'll slowly but inexorably start creeping back toward their original sex.

    • They KNOW that they will be "looked down upon" and that MOST people will "express disapproval". They KNOW that, in all likelihood, a large number of their own family members and lifelong friends will reject them, too.

    • They KNOW that they will be regularly threatened with violence simply for trying to socialize normally.

    • They KNOW that the long-term risks of their transition are basically unknown to medical science, and that there may be innumerable risks of death/cancer/whatever that no one knows about yet.

    • They KNOW that "chemical castration" isn't even a legal punishment for rapists and child molesters -- because it's considered cruel and unusual torture -- and yet they're perfectly willing to inflict that ON THEMSELVES because they think it MIGHT give them a little more peace of mind.

    • It is absolutely certain that they know all of these things, because reassignment hormones/surgery are not available to anyone who hasn't undergone at least a YEAR of therapy/counseling (generally at their own expense).

    Would ANYONE do all this if it was all just pure unadulterated bullshit?

    • @QuestionMan Whatever term you use, it's obvious that something is wrong there, and that people will go to amazing lengths to try to fix it.

    • The problem is they seek the wrong fix. As you outlined they're hooked on these medications like drug addicts. Instead they should receive therapy and we should discontinue the production of these medications.

  • Exactly. I think that there are men with typically feminine characteristics and women who are more masculine, but this gender fluid confusion stuff needs to stop.

    • It's not really politics or important (at least, to you). I'm someone who generally only cares about things that either effects me or hurts someone in some way. This doesn't, and if people don't want to be labelled or whatever for personal reasons who am I to judge or scrutinise when it doesn't bother me?

    • It's a dramatic stance in liberal america. I certainly don't want my future children becoming confused within their sexuality due to all these shenanigans. It's impacting society by becoming extremely prevalent thus a political issue. Exogenous hormones come with health implications especially when you are taking hormones that your body should not be. The government is enabling a mental disorder that has repercussions. If it wasn't a political issue then it wouldn't be brought up so much and it wouldn't of been brought up in my poli sci class.

    So don't do anything when my obviously male ass walks into a female locker room to change or a female rest room to pee. Don't say or do anything.

    I'll see if posting a picture works but just because you don't get it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. But if it doesn't exist, don't get mad when a trans-man with a dick and no breasts walk into a womens locker room or bathroom. After all, we're still women biologically apparently. Right?

  • First off, 3 genders anyways (Intersex is it's own biological classification).
    Second off, who cares? As long as it's not extreme or ridiculous (You're not a demiagender panda demon. That's not a thing), there's no point to this statement. What do you accomplish if you're right here? Being right? If it makes people more comfortable in their own bodies to feel this way, then why mess with it and try to tell them they're wrong? Does nothing for you, everything for them.

  • Gender and sex have been interchangeable for years. However, the lgbt has made the distinction between sex and gender. Do i believe anyone is born in the wrong body no. Is there more than a man and woman no. But you can't use facts and biology anymore. And intersex people suffer from a developmental disorder that is supposed to be fixed at birth and those with extra chromosomes if they have a Y chromosome they are male.

  • I know where you are going with this - In a sense I agree with you we are going overboard creating new words and labels - My view is you can be whatever you want to be, it is none of my business, don't make it my business and we will get along fine - Anytime these questions come up people go to the extremes straight away and create crap when there is no need for it (on both sides) - Live and let live plus leave me out of it.

    • This has been discussed on her and rebuttaled every time. Just go on the opinions below. Those is a birth defect that constitutes a very small of the population. THat is not a third gender.

    • well that's sorta my point, it's not a different gender, it's just different. it's not binary, but no one is arguing that there is more than 2 genetic genders. so what is your point? what relevance does any of this have to how someone wants to live their life?

    • It has a relevance because it's being taken too far in my opinion. I don't think it's morally correct to teach and confuse our youth embracing mental disorders. Artificially stimulating ones body with hormones of the opposite sex comes with a lot of health implications. Even if you disagree with all of that I take an interest in politics.

  • there's a lot of grey when it comes to gender- social and biological. not all penises are the same and not all vaginas are the same. exposure to different hormones during pregnancy can result in a variety of physical sexual structures. if that is possible- if there is a "gradient" in the physical appearance of sexual organs, why is it impossible for there to be fluidity within our society-based understanding of gender?

  • What if I told you... I actually i have friends who are transgender and quite honestly they get my support with whatever life style choices they make. We are all different and thats what makes this world worth living in.. So while i respect everyone elses opinion i disagree..

    • Only a fool will disagree with facts. Be supportive of your fiend by all means, by know the facts that only two genres exists. Even when species can transform into another gender or self procreate, there is still only two genders on earth.

  • Male, Intersex, female... I don't count transgenders. It's not a mental thing, they literally have chromosomal diffferences.
