My Top Erotica Picks Just In Time For Valentines Day.

In today's digital world just about anyone who thinks they can write can publish a book. This makes finding quality erotica difficult so to save my fellow single ladies some time and headaches. I have compiled my erotica recommendations. For those who don't know, "erotica is any story that places sex at the center of the story. They tend to use more frank language and usually include more sex scenes, often focusing more on the sex act rather than being a more traditional love scene, and may include more unusual positions or acts. Unlike romance or erotic romance, erotica may or may not deal with love or relationships and may or may not provide a happy ending for its protagonists."

It will mostly be paranormal erotic romance since paranormal romance tends to be my go to sub-genre but I'll put a few contemporary recommendations the mix toward the bottom.

The Durham Wolves by Becca Jameson

Three brothers who are are also werewolves live together on a horse ranch in the Smokey Mountains each brother gets paired off with a different woman so naturally this is a trilogy. The plot is nothing out of the ordinary there's a bad vampire with a grudge in the first book the vamp wants the heroine for himself and in the other two he's just out to kill everybody. Not much in terms of character and relationship development since its erotica lots of good steamy sex though.

SuperNatural Bonds by Jory Strong

A fantasy erotica series with a host of supernatural creatures including elves, fairies, shape-shifting dragons and such. They actually have pretty decent plots with some elements of mystery thrown in the first few revolve around find a missing chalice known as the Chalice Of Eros which the dragons need in order to produce offspring. There are some erotic elements unique to each book. Book #2 has a straight menage while book #4 has a menage with some guy on guy action. While all of them of some light BDSM mostly the ones with dragon males book #9 takes place in an actual BDSM club and has little to no story to it.

Jory Strong also has a sci-fi menage series called the Fallon Mates but I haven't read quite as many of those so I don't feel too confident in recommending it.

Mercenaries by Angela Knight

This is a three-part novella series written by Angela Knight a very prominent paranormal erotica and erotic romance writer. The first has a kinky threesome, the second takes place at a BDSM colony, and the third is between a female mercenary and her enemy it has the most story behind and is a bit less kinky than the first two.

The Cyborg Seduction series by Laurann Dohner

This series really is not for everyone before proceeding I must warn you this series contains dubious consent in which the heroine is pleasured into submission (cyborgs love to give oral) and sexual harassment by some side characters three of which even become heroes later on. It was strange like WTF author! That kind of thing is usually a big no no but seeing them fall for the very creatures they despise is a poetry form of justice in a way. The reason I am still recommending this series in spite of that is the sex scenes are still pretty steamy, the world building is pretty good, and I found the premise riveting. The Cyborgs were original created by the earth government to be the perfect warriors the only problem was eventually the develop self-awareness and rebel. The series takes place fifty years after the rebellion and the earth government has since covered up as much of the information regarding cyborgs and their existence. The Cyborg have since colonized their own planet and live in secret. Each big cyborg male forms a monogamous paring with one human woman it was interesting to see how each woman deals with the lawlessness of space and enduring the prejudice of the cyborgs.

Dragon Knights Series by Bianca D'Arc

This a predominantly a menage series with a few exceptions for the dragon princes this is a fantasy romance erotica with just as the series name suggests dragon knights. The dragons communicate with their knights telepathically and can't mate until their knights do because when the dragons mate the knights will go crazy due to the dragon's lust. One of the requirements for their wife is that she can understand the dragons as well this is rare which is why they share. I found the characters to be rather bland. The world building however, is pretty good but I often found myself skipping to the sex scenes.

The Game Maker series by Kresley Cole

This is a contemporary BDSM Erotica series featuring Russian heroes with ties to the Mafya. The Sevastyan bothers had a rough childhood which still haunts then well into their adulthood. Luckily, they find some kind stronghearted heroines to make it all better though they got some problems of their own of the deadly variety. All the characters are solid and have good character development. Anything written by Kresley Cole is bound to be great. There are three books in this series and they can be read as stand-alone novels.

Four Play by Maya Banks and Shayla Black

Two novellas featuring very kinky sex with one women and three men enough said.

Training the Receptionist by Juniper Bell

Surprisingly well written office erotica with great characters and plenty of kinky office sex between a boss and his receptionist. The other boss who co-own the company he enters the relationship later on and starts to call all the shots and even penetrates the other guy. This is a three part series and there is even a little bit of character and relationship development. It was a pleasant surprise since stuff like is is usually shit.

The Crossfire series by Sylvia Day

I've never read this series but I figured I ought to add another contemporary to the list and it is pretty popular it features two young characters with abusive pasts. I recommend it for any Fifty Shades of Grey fans this is series is often compared with Fifty Shades but it is much better written.

I was gonna add more pictures of the book covers but gag didn't like any of them and they are forcing me to add a picture so here's some puppies reading books!

Most Helpful Guy

  • A lot of these stories seem like they would include at least one of the following:

1.) "Not rape if she likes it" themes.
    or
2.) Glorified disloyalty/affairs where the guy that's actually the better one gets royally screwed over.

Not judging, of course. After all, every story has a right to exist. Just those two aspects really, REALLY tend to piss me off.

    • There is disloyalty or affairs.

    • I mean there is *None

    • Oh? It seemed to me like the Durham Wolves and Training the Receptionist stories would have those love triangle situations where two guys are going after the girl at once, and the girl thinks/knows she SHOULD be/want to be with one guy but is constantly divided because of her lust for the other guy. Kind of like the 2003 Phantom of the Opera movie.

  • Crossfire series has to be one of my all time favourites - except for the last book. It felt like she ripped out my loyal fan girl heart and stomped all over it with the lazy writing.
And anything by Shalya Black is a winner if you can read ménage haha

    • I've skimmed over one of her books before it was Their Virgin Hostage it was pretty good. I didn't remember her name thanks for mentioning her. I really ought give her books a read.

    • Lexi Blake is also a winner if you like SB 😊

    • I see you are a big Erotic Romance fan. lol. Thanks.

  • Can I suggest Phillipa Gregory?

    • What Phillipa Gregory writes is most definitely not erotica since she is so main stream and I've never read her work so I can't say if it is Historical Romance or Historical Fiction. While romance novels can have some steamy scenes the sex is not the central theme of the book. If sex is driving the story it is erotica or erotic (insert-theme here).

    • "I've never read her work" "Sex is not the central theme" It's almost like I suggested it because I have read it and I know what the genre you were talking about consists of. I mean, sorry, I'm only qualified in the area. But considering such an expert who's never read the work says no, who am I to argue... I'll stand back here and let the expert who doesn't read take the stand. I said. It's a SUGGESTION.

    • I've read the descriptions her books are based on the lives of historical women and she won a Romantic Novel of the Year Award so I wasn't sure if it was historical fiction or historical romance no need to get snippy.
