Bored in the Bedroom: Get a Fetish!

After being with a loving and committed partner for a long while, many people get what's been called the '7-year itch', prolonged 'spring fever' or simply just boredom and restlessless that manifests in the bedroom.

You see the cliches in media about couples 'spicing up' their sex life by going to a sex shop, using toys or even playing roles. But if that doesn't work it's possible there are more deep seated desires at play that might want to come out. Many fetishists feel shy or inhibited about communicating their desires publicly as many fetishes are related not to a person but more to an object. This can seem strange to most who only particpate in vanilla sex.

There are so many dating sites nowadays popping up online that are dedicated to niche dating, particularly to sexual fetishes. What's a fetish? Here is the classic definition:

fetish
noun
A form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to an abnormal degree to a particular object, item of clothing, part of the body, etc.
"a man with a fetish for surgical masks"
synonyms: fixation, sexual fixation, obsession, compulsion, mania; More
an excessive and irrational devotion or commitment to a particular thing.
"men will never understand a woman's fetish for shoes and handbags"

Have you every been with someone who's had a fetish? I particularly love when a man caresses and gives special attention to my feet, but I've never been with a foot-worshipper, though sometimes the idea sounds thrilling.

Here are some major fetishes, which one would you try?

  • People don't just "get a fetish." I mean, seriously? A fetish is something that someone either likes or does not, either someone has a fetish or they don't. No one can just "try" to develop a fetish. So basically, this take is bullshit.

*note* I also find it hilarious that an ADMIN is posting such explicit photos because last time I checked, mods are supposed to hide pictures like that (the one with nipple clamps, really?). That's just trashy and poor quality content to post on a site where 13 year olds are present...

    • Lol you hit it on the nose again! You either have a fetish or you don't. I also find it ironic an administrator posted this myself.

    • @rwfrg4g4gg yeah, some of the admins apparently feel they are above the rules here. It's kind of like a "do as I say, not as I do" sort of thing. If any regular users posted pictures like that, it would have gotten taken down.

    • I agree! I've had a big butt fetish for as long as I can remember. I can't help this... it's ingrained in me.

  • Ouch. Some1 tried to correct the thinking of "FETISH", & then 7 more tried to say the same thing, but the answers are still looking wishy washy.

    i) The popular term/definition of a 'fetish' is what we are reading here (what people desire most). Although it is very incorrect.
ii) At the risk of sounding like the jerk, The word 'fetish' (pertaining to 'sexual fetish') is only supposed to come into use when it is something very outside things already seen as sexual or sexy. If a Man if turned-on by a Woman with great Legs in satiny Pantyhose. You do not say, "Oh, he has a pannyhoze fetish!" Why? Because the female form is already alluring & the Pantyhose are made purposely to look alluring & to feel sensual. (the good pairs anyway).
Another example; If a Man or a Woman is very attracted to some1s 'back-side', do they have "a fetish for a great ass" ? No. They are human & attracted to the human form- that is common & normal. The word 'fetish' is not supposed to be brought-in here.

iii) When does the word 'fetish' come in to use then? Well, the common folk will disagree, but then again the common folk watch 'the kardashians'... "Fetish" is used when it is something different that brings-on the attraction/stimulation/turn-on etc. If there is a guy that can not perform sexually UNLESS he has a home aquarium (tropical fish tank) in that room... THAT is a fetish.
Another example: If a girl can not get turned-on unless she is thinking hard about Lions... that is a fetish.
Another example: If a guy or gal is turned-on at all by shoes, feet, stockings, lingerie, leotards, tight skirts, bra's, eye make-up, spandex, Sheer to waist Pantyhose, tights, anklets, lip-stick... none of these are in the fetish column. They are made to look and feel alluring /sexy/etc
Fetish column things would be different: star trek pillow cases, the smell of bacon, toothpicks thrown at dixie cups etc
So the question / topic name here is listed wrong. (sorry to sound oh-so-rude). As others stated, You don't just go 'get' a fetish... or "what's your fetish out of these few sexy things" - that has become the common thought - but it is wrong. No biggie, just needs to be re-worded. :)

If I must pick an answer for favorite (not fetish) personally it would surely be a Woman w/great legs in Silky Pantyhose. (Elvira Mistress of the Dark, Katy Perry, Rihana, Ann Margaret, Zooey Deschanel, Beyonce, Princess Kate Middleton www.pinterest.com/.../ www.pinterest.com/.../ www.pinterest.com/.../

  • All the pictures are geared towards heterosexual men. Women and homosexuals get bored too.

    • I apologize for that - which fetishes do you think best appeal to that cross-section of people?

    • You do not need to apologize!!! What Kalinda is saying is NOT true!

    • @facialhair27 What that women and Homosexuals are always content?

  • Seriously? This is not fair. I consider it hypocritical the fact that admins are allowed to post pics of such content, while questions that are asked by regular users get removed for being sexually explicit.
I don't understand the logic behind it.

By the way, a fetish is a paraphilia, which means that it is not exactly developed. Paraphilias are not associated with normal sexual thought patterns. For example, pedophiles do NOT choose to be sexually attracted to children. People who have a foot fetish do NOT choose to be sexually attracted to feet and so on..
It is a disorder. The level of impairment from the disorder is variable though.
You either have it or you don't.

    • I agree with you on both counts! Well stated

    • I totally agree to, this is so unfair but I'm not surprised in the slightest! Try posting a pick of a woman breastfeeding and it will get taken down, but it's cool to put up a woman with tape over her nipples, don't you dare cover that nipple with a baby mouth though, how disgusting!

    • Are you equating foot fetishes to pedophilia? Who are you to say what is normative sexuality and what is a disorder? That's a pretty broad judgmental uneducated statement from someone who surely has not tried everything sexually to know... And fetishes are explicit but the regular everyday violence we see on TV or media is OK? God forbid you see a leather pasty on a boob!

  • A fetish isn't something you can just 'develop' because you feel like, you either have a fetish or you don't.

    • How do you know 100% until you've tried? You're assuming you know everything about your sexuality, both conscious and sublimated. Ever read Freud?

    • Because I don't need to try something to know if I like it or not, if you have a fetish you are turned on by it even without knowing it's a fetish and you want to try it, if it's not your fetish you could even be repulsed by it. I do know everything about my own sexuality, if already explored what I like and don't like and haven't tried everything but I'm not going to try something that disgusts me. A fetish is always part of you, you just can't make one. Ex. the foot fetish, nothing repulses me more than feet, his my feet and feet being touched. No I have never tried but I know I will not enjoy because feet is a huge turn off for me, it being a turn off is enough to know that it is not my fetish and nor will it ever be.

  • Where did the report button go? There is clearly nudity on this post!

    • I love it!

  • I have smile fetish.

    • Love it!

    • Thank you :-)

  • I like women in hosiery, and I could enjoy a girl pretending to be a doll, but not if she was wearing a doll mask. Bondage is fun when it's with ropes and a Snidely Whiplash persona, but not so much with ball gags and studded leather. My true interest is costumed roleplay wherein she is wearing something cute and sexy like a french maid outfit.

Also, I have a massive clown fetish.

  • No message worthwhile that I can see in this. Bedroom antics have but one place, the bedroom. Public content, no matter what your opinion should stay in the bedroom? Personally have no problem with consenting adults sticking whatever they like, wherever they like, in private. I do have an issue with this post.

    • It didn't have message - I simply wanted to hear from people who have fetishes or want to try being with someone who does, not from those who repress their sexuality and chastise others for being open about it...

    • What is repressive about an opinion, and where were you chastised? You just wanted an excuse to post kinky pictures.

  • I have a BBW fetish

    • God bless you :)

    • More specifically, a BBW facesitting fetish

  • Oh my god, I can't believe GaG let this get posted! The pictures are really inappropriate...

  • Agree! I like 3 kinks but none appear in your examples

  • You can't even say p*rn on this site, but you can post a picture of a chick with nipple clamps... wut.

    • And that's actual p*rn lol GaG logic makes no sense!

    • Exactly. This is quite weird.

    • @Account Yeah, its pretty obvious too.

  • A fetish is not something that you can get like some lube at a pharmacy. Spicing things up by trying new things and having a fetish is totally different.

    • thank you! i couldn't have said it better

    • I don't think it's so black and white - do you think someone was born knowing at 10 they had a certain sexual fetish - you wouldn't know until you actually had sex to know what kind of sex you want. Plus you CAN get a fetish - by having sex with someone who has one. If you're bored in the bedroom, sleep with someone who will open your mind to a new world of sexual experience.

    • No its not black and white and you are not born knowing but you simply discover it at some point. Some people know what they are into or not into without even doing the acts because it starts in the mind.

  • Women's feet are AMAZING. You have no idea how much of a turn on giving woman a foot massage is.

    • So teue

  • This take doesn't make sense. People don't have fetishes consciously. They have fetishes because of subconscious reasons. You can't have them, by crossing fingers.

    • You can date or be with a person who has a fetish? Get a fetish - date someone with one and you can get access to one and participate in a fetish.

    • You can participate of course. But it means you have had it, you realize within relationship. I don't believe, it can develop like from nothing.

    • You are right @findingdreamland fetis is something can not be gained later on. It's just a feeling.

  • If you do not have a fetish, you cannot simply grow that fetish on you. People who do not have a fetish, they think really down about people who DO have that pariculat fetish. It is 1000% natural. Yes it can also be called a disorder. It is beyond control.

    • You can participate in a fetish with SOMEONE who does have one and explore that sexual experience - a. k. a. get a fetish!

    • I get your point. Perhaps people will do it. I have a fetish of my own but it does not go to the extremes of how it is usually presented. So I find it difficult to imagine if I will be party to the arrangement. I guess sexually adventurous couples will do a lot.

  • I love the nylon ones and so I want to try a particular one: SPANX fetish. For who doesn't know, SPANX is a body shapeware with a very particular crotch design. Any lady with such fetish here?

  • Big difference between exploring your kinky side and developing a fullblown fetish. One thing I would add is to make sure of consent from all parties involved!

In the kinkster world we have the rules
    Safe
    Sane
    Consentual

Break those at your own risk. Think consequences like hospital and jail before you start something like this.

Been doing this stuff for over 25 years take it from me.

    • Thanks for your comment would love to hear more about your experiences. I think people are so afraid of their sexuality they judge so blindly. If you participate in fetish sex you're developing your sexuality and exploring it, but you might not have the fetish yourself, and that's fine. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy sex with someone who has one...

    • exactly! I am open to talk anytime. I just don't know what it is you want to know.

    • How did you meet people who also enjoy your fetish? I can't find anyone into mine, and it's not like you start a conversation about it either
