How many of you men (18+) have used the services of a prostitute?

I'm just curious how common it is for men to go and see prostitutes. If you have ever seen a prostitute, was it like a one-time thing, or have you done it a few times, or do you regularly see prostitutes? Why would you use or not use a prostitute?

  • I would never ever use a prostitute and I feel sorry for prostitutes because most of them are forced into their profession by factors such as poverty or they are trafficked into it. I've got no respect or time for men who use prostitutes, I know it's the oldest profession in the World, but is one the World could do without.

  • Prefer to call them escorts or working lady as we call them here in Australia. Used the services a fair bit (20+ times maybe?) as it seems my only way to gain experiences in physical intimacy. As for safety, these ladies have sex for a living so that are actually more cautious than your regular girls some might say. Most of them I have seen are just like your regular girls (i. e. well educated university students, backpackers, sideline, etc) and I don't get the impression of them been drug addicts or they hid it really well.

    Note these aren't ladies who walk on the streets (also known as streetwalkers) waiting for people to pick them up (like in Pretty Woman). In some cases, a lot of rich guys actually hire them as companies for business trips or overseas holiday trips. It's not as seedy as people think if you go for the escorts (at $300/hr and above).

    • I have a friend here in Australia who used to be a prostitute, not a high class escort. It was the whole drugs, sex and violence scene in the place where she worked in the back streets. She was a drug addict and a sex addict. Sometimes a friend of hers would disappear and she would never see her again. Sometimes people were murdered over drugs or sex, and she knew about it, being part of that crowd, but she never saw it on the news. She is no longer working as a prostitute but is a mother on Centrelink allowance. She had been forced at times to abort a baby that a client had gotten her pregnant with. She is no longer addicted to drugs or sex. She wants to rescue other women from prostitution.

    • I guess it is important to know that there are some that indeed needs rescuing (became a prostitute because of circumstances) and some who are just happy to engage in sex work because they see it as a good opportunity to make money, engage and meet people, have sex. I don't know many job that can make $300-800 in an hour. There are actually forums dedicated to escorts and their clients where they can interact, groups and organisation to educate sex workers. In your friend's case, drug abuse probably played just as large a part as the sex work. Like any other jobs, if one are not in it because you want to, and had to turn to substance abuse to help numb the feeling, then I can't see things ending well. Models or actors are probably another career path where substance abuse is common. If one can be a healthy model or actor, I don't see why one can't be a healthy sex worker.

    • True. I wasn't saying that all sex workers are like that. But I guess I would like to caution guys that they should be careful which service they use so as not to support such terrible slavery. By the way, my friend of whom I spoke was sold into sex slavery by her mother when she was 14.
