My partner very recently asked me to call him daddy with things like "do *blank* to me daddy"
I laughed, a lot. It made me so uncomfortable because I didn't understand the psychology behind it or where this has come from after 6 years of being together. Reading up here and other forums has helped understand and to try to not be so creeped out by it. It's still sort of a turn off for me because I'm still working through being in the moment with him calling him Daddy and not letting my mind drift to my father *bleh!* but seeing how turned on it makes him brings me back into the moment pretty easily.
Has anyone else found that to be a problem? The unwanted horrific visuals when introducing this kind of play can bring? What's some tips you've found to stay in the moment and be more comfortable with it? After 6 years I wouldn't say things are stagnant, not at all but if he wants to try new things I want to be able to support him rather than embarrass him but it's a working progress I guess.
My fiancé likes me to call him daddy too and he calls me mama. Yes it does turn him on, but he sees me as his (second) mama, hence why he calls me that. And when we have children, he also wants me to breastfeed him...(*sigh*). But he mainly just uses it as a nickname.
I guess some guys like it because:
1. It turns them on;
2. They feel powerful;
3. It's a fantasy;
4. It's just another nickname I guess.

Because it projects that you accept his authority. It projects that you are innocent . And it is the fantasy of control , power and bieng macho that many men has. By calling him ''daddy'' you actually want to obey him and please him. Like I said, it plays on certain fantasies of control and innocense.

In my experience this is more of a girl thing. I've had several girls who liked to call me daddy, especially in a sexual context. It does nothing for me, although I see it as harmless and don't mind it.

It's almost like saying "yes sir," it's less about seeing himself as a literal father figure.
That is a very good question, it reminds me of incest and I think it is creepy.
My wife is the first woman to ever call me daddy during sex. At first, I was put off but then got to thinking that in some families, the wife will call her husband daddy and I was okay with it. In fact, I told her I'm her Very Bad Daddy!!

Its a dominance submission thing. She is being submissive when she calls him daddy, however its a dominance thing that in my opinion is far more intimate. Basically a daddy is the one who takes care of her, loves her etc. So her calling him that shows that she trust him and loves him and wants him to take care of her. So it also kind of reinforces his masculinity as well as the fact that he is in control. However its a type of control that is different then other dominance play, namely that its coming from love from intimacy and by choice vs. dominance play that would be say bdsm where its about physical control and forcing them to obey through threat of pain. While I certainly don't like it, I think that it plays into certain elements of male psychology. The man tends to want to be dominant and protective. That stereotype of men who want to be providers is actually rooted in evolutionary psychology. When a woman calls a guy "Daddy," especially if the woman is younger, the man gets to feel like he is in that protective role and suggests that the girl needs him. In that it also flatters the male ego.
My girlfriend likes calling me daddy, mostly it's about the power dynamic of the relationship. He wants to see himself as powerful and you calling him daddy helps him achieve that. It's loving, respectful, and intimate and sets him up as the dominant figure.

My girlfriend is older than me by eight years but I have more grey hairs than her so part of it is just kinda playing off the idea that I look somewhat older than her and the other is, I mean, as he said, she's mine she's doing what I tell her and that's... that's pretty fucking awesome.

But, as explained below, it's fantasy or power, but don't worry too much about it--when it comes down to it, quite a few people have strange quirks like that. Now, if there were bigger and weirder things that were happening, that might be something to worry about.

i think people are getting the idea that daddy is referring to ones own parent, but in sex i think its more of like referring to your partner being the daddy of your children even if you dont have children or are trying to make a baby. its just kind of sexy, and it makes me feel like she's all mine

Their are many reasons why, but I suppose it's because it makes us feel dominant or that we have control. But to others it may be for incestuous reasons. It is also used similarly to the term "baby". We don't literally mean baby when we call our bf/gf that, but it reveals we have the same qualities for them. Same goes for "daddy".
