He says he wants to marry me, and is trying to get me pregnant. Why would a man do that?

We know each other for about 3 years. We've been dating on and off. In the past he didn't treat me well, and I broke up with him. I didn't have good self esteem, so I allowed to be treated poorly. After we broke up I've been in intensive counseling and worked out a lot of personal issues. I finally started feeling good about myself. And at that time he contacted me saying he realized he really loves me and wants to marry me. He begged me for another chance and said he will show me he can be loving and caring. We started seeing each other again, and he is acting very nice towards me. He keeps saying he wants us to get married, and he is also trying to get me pregnant. One night we had unprotected sex, I was not on birth control, and took a morning after pill. He knew about it. However the next time we had sex he did exactly the same thing. I told him I am worried I might get pregnant, and he said he wants me too, and that it would not be OK to have an abortion if I did get pregnant. I am 38 and he is 39, both divorced. Why would a man behave in such way?

this sounds a little backwards it is normally a girl trying to get pregnant to catch the guy , but definaity sounds like he is trying to bring you in with it. Not that its wrong to have kids but they should be the means to trap a mate. if y'all are staying together maybe get on the pill for now until your sure its what you want

Reading this... just no, it doesn't sound good to me since I've heard similar stories like this, and let just say it didn't end well. He sounds like one of those guys who puts on a nice act, and once you pregnant, he starts treating you like shit.

I also would not get back with a guy who treated me poorly... ever.

Really sounds like he wants to trap you in order for you not to leave him like last time. Honestly, why are you back with him? You have done well with counseling and you have better your self-esteem now. Your cleansing should have brought a new love life. You are reverting this "renewal" with a guy who seems desperate to have someone by his side

I agree with @xPoison. He is trying to get you pregnant because then it will be even harder for you to stay away from him. He sounds like a DB and they don't just change. It takes years and years. You have started to feel better you say, don't let him ruin that because trust me he will.
