Why are so many humans so illogical and self-destructive?

Instead of dealing with a problem directly, they bury their head in the sand. Instead of trying to find real solutions to their personal problems, they turn to drugs as an escape. Instead of making strong relationships built on integrity, they choose people they know are bad for them. Instead of taking their anger out on the person who has wronged them, they turn that anger on the people that they love. Instead of admitting that they are wrong, they would rather place the blame on everyone else and not take accountability for their actions or their choices in life. Human beings kill, steal, destroy, and rape. Almost 90 percent of the ones I talk to always have something to hide about their past, like they're ashamed of who they were. Is this what it's like to be human? Cause I don't do any of these things. I don't bury my head in the sand. I don't turn to drugs for some kind fo personal escape. I build all my relationships based on integrity. I don't hide my past from anyone cause I'm not ashamed of it. Why do I feel so different from human beings? Like I'm some kind of robot? Like somehow I'm the one who is weird? I don't understand the world, and the more I try, it only gets stranger.

  • said mr perfect. some people have just weaker characters and less self-discipline than others. and you completely overlook their upbringing, their past, and their insecurities. the human mind is a fragile thing. a little popping in your brain and mr righteous can be a vegetable for his whole life. don't judge that easily. you probably have your fair amount of dark secrets as well... .

    • I don't have dark secrets. I made it a point in my life not to have them. People shouldn't get angry at me just because they have a dark past and I don't (not saying you do, that just seems to be the case I run into a lot).

    • well i don't have a "dark secret" but i certainly have my fair amount of stupid choices. bad partners, depression, dropping college... . but i think the fact that i came from a shitty marriage (parents) and my father was an abusive alcoholic whose sinister mother controlled our destiny as a family, played a major role in the shit that came and i brought in my life.

    • its true that i always avoided drugs like hell though. there was too much shit in my life, to add one more problem myself... .

  • ... I'm guessing you're either not human or you're one of many who realize humanity's just dumb. And it is. It's in our nature to be, like you said, self-destructive. Power, greed, pride, and anything in between run through humanity. Been like that since humanity basically started.

    • I wish there was some kind of master button, some kind of red switch somewhere that I can press and turn that "self-destructive" nature of human beings completely off.

    • If there was a button like that I'm sure plenty of people would have completely obliterated any trace of it long ago.

  • Their only outlet is watching too much TV and imitating what those characters do.

They watch what their elders do.

  • they were raised that way and so were their parents

    • Something is wrong then. Somewhere along the line, I don't know where, something went wrong. I wish I knew when.

  • That's way too deep a question for GAG.

  • i love it when emos get in here.
write a poem about it bro.

    • Just trying to understand my surroundings.

    • the truth is we see what we want to see. if you look for the horrible i the world then you'll find it if you look for the opposite then that will be your surroundings. we do horrible things sure, but so do animals. animals rape, and kill and torture too (some felines are known to toy with food before killing them). hell our very existence relies on a big ass ball of fire that our planet circles around.

  • the white men in power, influenced humanity to be what they are today.

The white men in power don't want peace, they don't give a damn about it. They want the humans to fight, spend on things they don't need and to stay separated.

  • we are imperfect beings.

    • That's fine, I'm not perfect either. The thing that scares me though, is that there are a lot of people who are okay with being this way. Some even like it.

    • some like it cause being hurt became natural to them as a defence mechanism in their brain.
