I shave a lot of that area (actually use a cream hair remover) just to reduce friction when running and biking. I don't know if you have ever had a friction burn on some of those areas, but damn... I use talc instead on smooth skin.

I shave my back, ass, ass crack, stomach. I trim pubes, leave a happy trail, shave the balls, trim chest hair and inner thighs, and of course trim arm pits. Everything else is left alone.
