An old question, but I had an experience with this recently.
I do kick-boxing and because it's a mixed class, it is common to spar with both guys and girls. When we do any sparring, it is normal practice for guys to wear a cup, but for groin kicks to be allowed. I got sparring with a girl, but told her that I was trying it without the cup, because the one I had was quite restrictive and uncomfortable. She asked if I was sure that I wanted to do that, but I told her that she's only a girl, so what does it matter! She didn't look happy when I said that!
Anyway, I was sparring her and at some point I must have lost focus and stood facing her with my legs spread wide apart, because the girl ran up and literally kicked me in the balls as hard as she possibly could! She kicked her hardest as if I was wearing a cup!! Her kick put me straight down and the pain was just excruciating agony beyond words! :( The girl's kick ruptured both of my testicles and caused massive bruising and swelling! :( I had to have corrective surgery that was fortunately 100% successful! :)
I'm back at the club now and the girl just laughed and told me not to underestimate girls in the future! I have a new, better cup now and I always wear it!

Oh thanks :) and yes, I learned never to underestimate a girl in a fight - and that just because a girl is slim and curvy with big boobs doesn’t mean that she won’t run up and destroy my balls with her absolute hardest possible kick and then actually laugh as I crash to the floor in absolute agony! :( No, I will never take on a girl in an actual competition fight (where cups are not allowed) and will always wear my cup for sparring for sure! :)

The UK, but it’s based on Thai rules. They are allowed in the old traditional rules, yes, but cups are optional - some just find them uncomfortable. I forgave her, yes, I mean kicks to the groin are allowed, and it does happen fairly often.

I think at formal competition level it is more regulated, but at club level sparring and competition the individual clubs can set their own rules. I forgave her because she only followed the rules and it’s a legal move that she and other girls often use. I don’t let people do nasty things to me normally, no, but I accept the rules of this class.

I just find the cups uncomfortable and restrictive, so I don’t protect my groin area at all, other than trying to block or avoid full contact kicks to my groin. The girls use that move often. All punches and kicks are allowed to any part of the body, yes, so it’s important to have as good a defence as an attack.

Sorry, I got mixed up, those kicks are not allowed. I was thinking of another technique. Kicking is allowed to any part of the body, but not any kind of ‘stamping’ specifically intended to do joint damage.

Don't ever Joke with this. This kind of pain is so hard to describe. I'd rather be hit with a baseball bat in the head than a light kick in the nuts. I had a closed fist hit my eye directly. The eye was crushed and as you can imagine it was REALLY painful. Even-though the eye is a really sensitive part of the body the pain does not even come close to pain in the nuts.

It's a pain that cannot be compared to pain in another body part. Even a light graze can give you a real sick feeling. You literately feel like throwing up.

Some girls think we exaggeration and sometime try to hit it for fun... DON'T DO IT!! Don't even pretend you are gonna do it. I have seen perfect gentlemen that would never hit a woman hit women when doing this.

But if there was some sort of a life threatening situation then I can recommend any woman to go for that area. No matter how though the guy is he is he will not be able to bother you anymore.
