My partner and I have a safe word, and she has used it. Considering we can just tell one another when things aren't right, using the safe word is kind of extreme so we treat it like a kill switch: when you hear the safe word, you shut it all down.
We also have a safe gesture and a song that can be hummed (it's the theme to Gilligan's Island haha). You know, in case we're not in a position to speak or use hands.
I don't have a "safe word". If I don't like something I tell him.

I don't think that a safe word is ever a mood kill. I mean, if you're using your safe word, then the mood beforehand wasn't very good, was it? :) And no, you don't carry on after using a safe word. You generally stop everything and try to calm down. My partner always respects my safe word.
