Male on Male vs Female on Female - why the intrigue for both sexes?

Several comments by women and men on this site plus my own experience in the area, make a vivid statement about how both sexes, seem to find sexual contact between two members of their opposite sex, ie sex between two men or sex between two women seems to be a "hot" button for both sexes respectively. That is to say, men are hot to go to see two women, having sex, and from my experience, and from several very candid and thoughtful women on this site, they find sexual contact between two males to be equally sexually stimulating. One lady friend of mine would orgasm in a heart beat at the though of me having sexual contact with a friend I had as an adolescent. I absolutely love to see two beautiful women having sex and would have given my left testicle to see my wife with her best girlfriend in a sexual context. I don't know what Freud would say about this and I wonder if we have any "sexual psychologists" on this site that understand the psychology of this behavior / interest. Bruce

I would like to hear from women and men alike, whether or not you have had this kind of experience or have heard it expressed by a lover, friend or wife. The behavior seems to fly in the face of my understanding of "sexual preference"

  • Dang it! I just wrote like a ten page essay in response to this, and it disappeared.

Well, here is a weak imitation. It lacks the vigor of my first draft, but it will have to do.

I`m not sure if this is what you`re getting at, but there is a whole complicated theory about the differences between male and female sexuality. (Of course, there are exceptions to this and any theory.)

Apparently, a woman`s sexuality is much less rigid than a man`s. Meaning that women are more likely to be attracted to other women then men are to other men.

According to the theory, there is actually no such thing as a bisexual man. Instead, the idea is that any man who considers himself bisexual is actually gay but is not prepared to accept the fact. On the other hand, it is much more "natural" for women to be bisexual. Their sexuality is simply more flexible, for lack of a better way to explain it.

According to a few sources, the percentage of gay men is higher than the percentage of lesbian women.

Yet more women than men admit to fantasizing about their own gender while masturbating. Which leads to the conclusion that straight women are more likely than straight men are to have a certain amount of attraction to their own gender.

If you think about it, this theory corresponds perfectly with stereotypical gender roles.

Men are strong, "hard" lol and not naturally very flexible, physically or emotionally. They appear to feel that their attraction to women is a vital part of their identity, and that their valued masculinity would be jeopardized by and "gay tendencies."

On the other hand, women tend to have much more softness and flexibility, which lend themselves to going with the flow. They aren`t traditionally openly encouraged in their attraction to men or their sexuality. They don`t seem to feel that their femininity is threatened by any attraction to their own gender.

This could be because women are often encouraged by men to participate in girl on girl action, while women are not commonly as enthusiastic about gay sex.

This could be because of the preexisting stereotype that gay men are less masculine, and it`s natural for women to be attracted to masculinity.

It could also be because men are more visual than women are. Men may enjoy watching lesbian sex because it`s twice the eye candy. But women appreciate being touched and addressed directly, so simply watching two guys doing it is somewhat lacking for us.

As far as participating in threesomes, that may be a whole other story.

Sorry this is so long, haha. Coincidentally, I`m extremely fascinated with this subject. Which you`ve probably figured out for yourself, judging by the number of words here...

    • You don't know how glad I was to see your answer and the thought you put into it. I would have liked to have seen your 10 page essay, and I bet you were "timed out". If you have the inclination and time I would be interested in reading it, if you care to share it. You do make interesting reading and this is the kind of sophisticated reply I had hoped to get, and I DID hope you would be a responder. Thanks for being so methodical, and measured in your reply.

    • It wasn`t literally ten pages. Sorry, I have a tendency to exaggerate. It was more or less what I said up there, with just a few more thoughts that I forgot the second time. Glad you liked my answer! I wasn`t sure if maybe it was a bit off topic.

  • Well it just kinda makes sense that if you`re attracted to something, more of it would turn you on more than less of it would.

I can`t say I`m really turned on by gay sex. I doesn`t turn me off, or anything, but it just doesn`t do all that much.

Maybe it makes me feel left out, or something, haha. I would rather have him/them pay attention to me then to each other, lol.

    • Thanks "Tiger"

  • Watching and doing are two different things.

Before dragging unwilling partners into the situation, you should ask yourself and other whether or not they have bi-tendencies. A lot of people don't.

Not only are most women turned off by MM. Many men are turned off by MM as well. And it goes the other way around. So don't impose your fantasy onto others.

    • Thare was no attempt on my part to "impose" anythng on anybody, nor drag "unwilling Partners" into any situation. I have no idea where your bizarre answer comes from. The question came from what I have read here and seen. It was a QUESTION only and not an accusation. It is no wonder that you "dontknowanymore", No attempt was made to impose my "fantasy onto others". The questikon originated with women on this site. Pleeeeaaaaaaa

  • I haven't heard many girls say they get turned on by two guys having sex. I know that plenty of girls watch lesbian porn though.

I read somewhere that girls aren't attracted to the male form in the same way that men are attracted to a woman's body; it's not really seeing a guy naked that gets a girl turned on. So it makes sense that girls wouldn't really be into seeing two guys together. I can't really explain why girls like seeing two girls together though.

    • It doesn't really make any sense logically, but not everything about human behaviour makes sense. Thanks for your measured answered
