There's an awful lot of slut-shaming occuring in these opinions... I hate how women are expected to hide their body and by extension, their sexuality for fear that if it were to be revealed that oh no, a consenting female shared an image of her body to someone privately, she is suddenly a harlot and should be ashamed. Not the man for sharing her private images, but the woman for creating PRIVATE images in the first place.
I've sent nudes. Never with my face in for online relationships, but including my face with people I know in real life. If those images were to be made public without my consent, I don't think I deserve to be called a slut or stupid. My body is not something I should be ashamed of, and neither is my sexuality. However just because the images exist does NOT mean they are public property, because my body isn't public property either. Who I choose to share it with is my business.
Yet I'm still going to post this anonymously simply because I do not want to deal with the backlash from girls telling me I have no self-respect and men calling me a whore. Check yourself before you cast stones.
I think a lot of girls (or at least girls my age) feel a little bit coerced into sending these types of pictures.
I was only 13 when a then 'boyfriend' pestered me for those sorts of pictures. I'm so glad I refused and 'broke up' with him. Since then, he's definitely grown up but I just think of what could have happened if I did send a picture.
I also feel like there is this sort of social expectation for the boys (from each other- to ask and try and receive these pictures and a pressure on girls to send them.
I have friends who send them to male friends and they are broken hearted when the guy says he doesn't like it, or shares it with a friend.
It's really annoying and unfair. It's okay if you're an adult and enjoy it, but when you're under age it never seems to end well...
I have never done it and never will because guys can be arseholes as you said. On the topic of naked pictures did you ever see the college humour video about revenge porn.
It basically can be summed up as: you want to share our naked pictures? That's cool, you do that. And gradually no girls will send naked pictures because the risk will be too high. And then there'll be no new naked pictures. So although you get a small peak at the beginning of naked photos, you're actually decreasing the number of naked pictures available in the future. It PROBABLY doesn't really work like that. But it was a funny video :)

I'm not sure. They like to give the tired old line that it's liberating and stuff like that, but I doubt that's why they truly do it. Young girls seem to send nudes to guys they deem good looking in an effort to win him over. They don't have the foresight to think that the guy might post them somewhere later.
They either need to go through all the pain themselves, or other women need to tell them that sending nudes has consequences. I know firsthand the results when a guy tries to warn/stop them. They just go on and on about how I can't control them, how they are liberated, etc, and then at that point I have no choice but to let natural selection do it's work.
Often times it's because they are young and unwise. I know they trust the man they send them to, but most relationships end. Who knows what frame of mind he'll be in when that happens. Furthermore, who knows what frame of mind she'll be in when that happens.
Don't do it. Just don't do it.

I think, outside of a committed long term relationship, it really is insecurity and the hopes that the recipient will be more attracted to her. It is a different page of the same book, where girls sleep with guys hoping to get them into a relationship.
Some girls just don't care and do it for fun, I suppose, but I think the majority are trying to land the guy.
They do it because they are naive, vulnerable and pressured into it. Because they are young is especially why, because they don't have as strong of a sense of self, and therefore not as strong of a sense of self worth. Insecurities lead to bad decision making.
I think it's simpler than that. They want him to be impressed, and they convince themselves there won't be any serious consequences for it.

Sometimes girls do the most stupidest things. I'm not sure why they do it. But it could be emotional manipulation, seeking attention, blackmail or just plain stupidity. There was this one girl (friend's friend) she sent her ex boyfriend naked pic of her self bc she just wanted to show him how much she loves him. He ended up posting the pic on all social media and embarrassed her. Sigh. It's heartbreaking to see all these shit.

I haven't done it but I can give you my opinion on why I believe some girls do it. For the girls who aren't in a relationship with the guy they do it for attention. They want his attention and enjoy the fact he's getting off to their bodies. The same can go for girls who are in relationships except it also involves trying to keep their guys attention and wanting to please him. "I need to keep him interested so I'll send these."
The thought of a fallout that will result in the receiver distributing these images over the web or sharing with friends isn't on the senders mind. That's why most people who partake in this activity tell others to send images with their head cut off from the image so it's less identifiable.

no I have never sent naked pictures and wouldn't do it. I have bikini photos etc on facebook but that's all quite harmless. Like some of the others have said I think peer group pressure is part of it - if you don't snapchat a naked selfie then you are 'sexually backward'. Just don't do it unless it's with your partner and mutually respected I would say.
