How is it that a woman can lie about sexual harassment with no proof and get away with it?

I worked a job for 3.5 years. I was good at my job, I liked my job. I was their best driver and machine operator there. Customers loved me, people asked for me by name. I took care of people. I made the company a lot of money. A few months ago they hired a girl. The girl turned out to be the girlfriend of one of the owner's nephews. She seemed really cool. We got along well. She worked hard and we all taught her a lot about machines. She didn't mind getting dirty and liked what she did. I was always there for her to answer questions and guide her anyway I could. I gave her the utmost respect. Long story short... A few days ago I was called in to the management office and abruptly fired. She claims that I sexually harassed her a few weeks ago. UHHH WHAT? She wrote up this whole thing, none of which I saw or read but I know was a lie. Why she did it? No idea. I never did anything to her and I always helped her. This came out of nowhere. I feel so betrayed. Why do people have to be so low? One of my co-workers aggressively put his hands on another employee, he still works there. Another co-worker did 4 no call no shows, 2 of which were in a row... still works there. Why? :\

  • Well, that's not right at all. I can understand, I am sure you would be angry and yes life can be harsh as well. I am sure this wouldn't have just come to her head one day. I am sure this is a well planned and executed move by her, maybe she was planning this for months, I am sure about this. I don't know why? why would a woman do this for no reason when you have no harm to her? also what kind of a management and office is this where the management doesn't even verify the facts of her accusations? what kind of a management is this where they don't even give you a chance to explain your part? come on! even in a court an accused gets a chance to explain his part, here you are not even being given a chance to say what you want to say?

This is the most stupid management, company I have heard about, totally illogical in my view. No management would ever do something like this, there is always a well defined procedure, this is total nonsense!. You are not even the accused, you don't seem so from the way you have put that.

Now, I am beginning to suspect that even the management is involved in removing you out, it all seems like a planned move by the woman who accused you and also the entire management. It also possible that she would have taken the management on her side by unfair means, like bribing them or anything you can imagine so that she can manipulate the outcome to be in her favour only!. Yes this sounds very much a possibility.

However I don't understand what would they get out of it? why did this happen to you? no one gives you a reason or explanation? strange, very strange.

Anyways what are you going to do about this now? are you going to get back at her? I mean not taking revenge but rather taking justice like proving to the management that she was wrong, everything was a lie? or if you think that management is also involved then are you going to take some action against the management as well? I am sure you are angry, aren't you?

Or are you just going to take this in your stride and move one?

    • I don't want to make waves so I'm just going to move on. Although there are a few things I've love to do...

  • You need to always protect yourself in your job. I never allow myself to be alone with female work colleagues for this reason or kids for that matter. The system is so screwed up that a woman can make sexual harassment or rape allegations without a shread of evidence and is believed instantly over the man. So men need to protect themselves. What did your union say? Did you hire a lawyer? A good one would be to hire a private detective to gather evidence like if she has a history of making false sexual harassment allegations. If your innocent can the self pity party and fight for your job and clear uou good name. When a future employer asked what happened at your last job what will you say "I was accused falsely of sexual harassment" , thats not going to get you the job.

    • They wrote it as I showed up to work late too many times.

  • I'm sorry to hear you got fired and for something that you don't even know you did. I can get how you feel, my dad as had a lot jobs in his life and a few of those jobs ended because of people causing problems for him or making things up that weren't true. I was young for most of them but I do remember bits and pieces. So, I totally get how unfair things can be. Truth is, a lot of people (not just women) can get away with things without proving it. Especially, if they already have an in with the boss. From what a read her being the girlfriend of one of the owners nephews, seems like a pretty good in to me. My guess, that's probably why they didn't question her. Makes it even more unfair but I learned early in life that life can suck and people can too. Again, sorry that happened. Hope you find a new job soon.

  • If this is truly out of the blue and there is no basis for it, time to take someone to court.

Getting fired for sexual harassment can destroy your chances if getting another job. You need to clear your name and the only way to do it is to take the case in front of a judge.

Unfair dismissal without any type of reconciliation would cause an employer a lot of trouble in the UK, if taken to an employment tribunal.

What did they accuse you of? What's the basis? Where's the proof?

Innocent until proven guilty is the status quo, not the other way around. It's your accuser's job to prove harassment took place.

  • Sounds like you need to find a lawyer. While I know most places don't take harassment suits lightly, they should have investigated. You might be able to sue the company and her for being fired and for her tarnishing your name/integrity, if you were found to be innocent.

  • How is it that a woman can lie about sexual harassment with no proof and get away with it?
The same way men can lie about not sexually harassing a gal with no proof and get away with it. That way being it is a he said she said case.

    • The woman will always win.

    • In your opinion. Statistics show otherwise. Most of such cases do not go to trial and of those that do most do not get a guilty conviction. A guy is more likely to get away with sexual harassment, sexual assault, or rape than a gal is to get a guilty verdict... much less make a false accusation.

    • I don't believe any of that. I have seen exactly the opposite multiple times through people I know in life. Look at divorce for example. I've seen cases where a man has a job and the woman doesn't. The man has no criminal background and the woman does. He can't even live in his own house, she can live there and yet the court will NOT give him legal rights to his under aged daughter. Drunk, jobless, criminal mommy gets the girl. HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT WORK?

  • Because honestly some woman are conniving bitches that seek pleasure in the pain of others.

  • Well without knowing what happened we can't really judge. Why wouldn't you at least read what you were accused of? You could have done something that she took the wrong way, but since you didn't bother reading it you just have to deal with being fired I guess?

    • It's not about "bothering" to read it. I wasn't given the choice. It was, this is what happened, you're fired. I wasn't allowed to say anything.

    • I think you misunderstood what he said about the reading. He said she wrote this thing up, which he never saw nor read. Which means, if he didn't see it how could he read it?

    • Ahh I see. Aren't employers legally obligated to tell you the reason? Report them @loveisbeautiful

  • The thing about sexual harassment is that its definition is up to the sexually harassed. If they feel they're being harassed then they are. Sorry...

    • I... DID... NOT... DO... ANY... THING.

    • It's a crappy system for sure.

    • I don't get why so many people are downvoting this... that is literally how sexual harassment laws work.

  • I really think that if someone is accused of something, they have every right to defend themselves. At least you should have been allowed to read the report she wrote, particularly as you lost your job of this accusation. While I understand that bosses need to protect their employees from sexual harassment, they also need to protect them from false accusations. Why didn't she at least approach you first if she had a problem. People need to learn how to communicate more effectively.

  • Women lie! Period. They practice crying and making faces in the mirror so they can be better lairs. They lie about everything with no guilt or remorse. They lie to the friends, family and even themselves. Just thank God she did not lie and say you sexually assaulted her. That happens every day and there are thousands of innocent men in jail due to that fact. Same thing happened to me but luckily I was able to prove she was lying and nothing happened to me. She never suffered any negative consequences for her lie though. WOMEN are treated like children in the west and never held responsible for their actions.

  • Try emailing her or someone close to her and find out what exactly happened. Maybe phrase it in a way like uh what did I do wrong? If I did something wrong sorry? That would be the best way to go about it to get an answer and then you can change your attitude about it if you want.

    • If I do that, they will totally try to scumbag me again somehow. The one manager was like I don't want to hear about you texting or emailing anyone in this store about this.

    • Well you dont really have anything else to lose though, so yea they might be scumbags to you but its not like they could do anything else could they? If they wanted to take you to court for sexual harassment at least then you would find out what they were talking about.

  • Dude, cause anything that harms a girl is taken out of proportions. One time as a KID I had to kneel down and apologized to a girl that I accidentally hit. Girls have never leaned down after they hit me.

It's f*cking ridiculous. We should start a manifestation to protest about this, just like women did, they got heard, but we never do anything.

  • you should point that out to them i'm sure they will reconsider after all they have no prove just her word

    • specially if you worked there longer than she has.. talk to human resources and explain and see what they tell you or better yet go to a lawyer and ask if you have a case

  • Sorry man

It looks like a case of her throwing you under the bus for personal gain. can't you fight this somehow?

A lot of girls abuse the system

    • Between her being a girl and being "in" with the family, how can I fight it? She can lie about anything and they will back her up.

    • Being in with the family.. ah shit.. i know it sounds like a case of pushing you for some type of gain.. its odd and i dont know why doesn't your country or state have employment laws against things like that to protect employees. Or do you have a union since you mentioned your blue collar

    • No union, it's privately owned. There are laws but I can't prove anything.

  • This is how unfair the world is I feel for ya bro

  • Because she is a bitch. More likely the girl would get a warning if they were told on because that's just how it seems to work these days

  • Its sad when liars are in control of others lives... Sounds a lot like American politics!

  • Hey anonymous QA, welcome to the club.

In this country, if you speak of yourself as a victim in this circumstance you will be attacked for being sexist. Nobody will recognize that this is systematically unfair and you sadly now know how fucked up "equality" is this country.

The only thing you can do is move on and protect yourself better next time. Western societies will never care about you as much as they care about women.

  • Thank Feminism.

  • I have been fired plenty of times before randomly and I'm looking for a job still
Is there a way you can sue her for defamation of character? Is there a way you can get an alibi or someone at the company to speak on your behalf? Sorry that happened to you, she sounds like a crazy bitch

  • It's in the family... They'll probably replace you with one of their other relatives.

    • That's what I thought. I've seen what's come through there in the time I was there. They'll never replace me with someone as good.

    • Nepotism hurts everyone.

    • Exactly.

  • Nah there's more to the story than this.

I was fucking raped on college campus by two guys. No one besides my good friends believed me. Now I can't even be touched without flinching, I was in physical pain for months after it happened and my emotional pain WILL never go away.

    • If there is I don't know it. Why would I lie on a website? I WAS FIRED. Are you serious?

    • You can sure them. They have no proof of anything. File for unemployment while you're at it. Why the fuck would I lie about something like this?

    • To the people who think there's more to the story than why I wrote, you're dumb. Plain and simple. Why would I lie and or leave information out? How, please explain, HOW that benefits me in any way? What does that accomplish? Please specify. I'd love to hear your retardation.
