Why is the word interracial synonymous with black men and white women?

Question

Since there is more to the word interracial than black men and white women. But it seems as though the mainstream media propagates the whole "interracial = black man and blonde white girl" thing. An example of this is a magazine covering stories about "interracial" couples and the only "interracial" couples they interview hypothetically are black man/white woman couples, wheres the indian man/asian girl couple?, wheres the white man/black girl couple? 

This whole black man/white girl agenda is allover the place from music videos to tv shows. Just ask yourself how often you have seen a couple in a tv series thats interracial not be black man/white girl? 

And another thing is the porn industry fetishizes the black man/white girl thing like there's this whole fetish of white men watching their white wives have sex with a black man etc. As a matter of fact most "interracial" is black man/white woman. 

This is blatant racism and racist propaganda perpetuated by the media that teaches white women to only date black men. And it is racist because by definition racism means "the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races." In this case white women view black men to be superior because of the size of their package (male sex organ).

Wow, that took an unexpected turn in the last paragraph. I agree with you that the term is thrown around a lot to describe that specific combination (although to a lesser extent it is used with white men and black women). The reason for that is good old fashioned American racism. The word "interracial" almost always comes with some scandalous connotation, and the reason people would view it as scandalous is that we're still so entrenched in the idea that white and black people shouldn't be together because it is unnatural. No one really cares about any other combination.

This is much more evident in porn. The underlying concept in interracial porn is not that white women view black men to be superior. The underlying concept is that the white woman is somehow demeaning herself by having sex with the large, muscle-bound, big-dicked, sex-crazed (and, implicitly, stupid/sub-human) Mandingo and, as a result, that makes the whole thing especially naughty.

There are probably an equal amount of White Guy and Latina women and White Guy and Asian women relationships because they aren't really acknowledged by mainstream media.

No just to name a few. I don't know which combination is most common in the media but you sure can find a few examples of both  I don't know about porn, it's not my things but it IS made for men so apparently that is what men want to see?  As for aesthetics. On average skin of men of a certain race is darker than that of women. So maybe there is something in us that finds fair skin in women attractive and a little darker in men

To me white guy with black girl is significant. Socially polar opposites. The person with the advantage and the person most historically oppressed. Ironic, but it says something special if you can cross those barriers.

Because they're the two extremes. Black men are seen as the epitome of masculinity and white women the epitome of feminity. I guess they're the most obvious type of interracial couple. I also think porn has a big influence.

In the beginning, it was unthinkable in the porn industry the black-on-white-girl topic. So the actor was always a white male and if the actress was of color it was classified as "ebony". Lately though, the interracial (colored-male-on-a-blond-female) topic is highly advertised because it is the last (and strongest) remaining taboo. The rest (white-male-on a-colored-girl) is classified as "ebony", "asian", "thai" etc.

I'm white, and 100% do not get the cuckold thing at all.  But if it's a hot blonde, who has previously dated a black guy? I actually think I prefer it. It makes her seem adventurous.
