I only have personal experience to go on, but there are some things that can lead to premature ejaculation.

Being very excited is a common one. I know if I'm gonna get some action at the end of the day I'm thinking about it all day. That builds up and tends to blow early, you know?

Another possibility is going a long time without sex. You kind of lose your stamina and tolerance is you have to go without a long time, and most likely will blow quickly once you finally get laid.

None of this is really a problem unless he shoots early all the time. Even guys who get tail every other day will sometimes cum early.

Two things may contribute. Higher arousal and longer refractory period. The testicles export sperm to storage... the seminal vesicles which in turn, load the ejaculatory ducts. Concurrently, the prostate produces and engorges with prostatic fluid, the vehicle that delivers and nourishes sperm. The built up pressures signals readiness to ejaculate (perhaps a "hair trigger") making it come on easier and quicker when there's stimulation. At least that's how I see it.
