My girlfriend said that she would cut off my penis if I ever cheated on her?

A female friend was drunkenly flirting with me in front of my girlfriend and I told her to stop. My girlfriend saw us and asked me what was going on. I told her that I loved her and that the friend was wrong to flirt with me. My girlfriend said that if I ever cheated on her, she would cut off my penis. Naturally, I assumed it was some kind of joke, so I laughed it off, but she didn't laugh. So then I said, "no way you could do that". She said, "I'll do it in your sleep". Again she's still not laughing. So I laughed again and was like, "whatever", but she just kind of turned her head a little and gave me a "I'm not playing" look. She has not apologized to me for this nor did she say she was joking. What do I do now? I feel scared.

  • Actually this is quite typical behavior. I was in one very serious relationship with a young woman several years ago and am now currently married - they both behaved in a very similar way to the one you are describing. It can mean one of two things:
    1) she's extremely possessive, which can be a precursor to abuse as she may monitor who you talk to, when, where, etc - as well as continue to threaten you (also a sign of abuse).
    OR
    2) she is very emotionally invested in you and clearly does not want you to do anything to betray her trust or otherwise she will turn on you - saying things like "i'll cut your dick off" is more of an exaggerated and crude expression of this, but feels that that this may the only way to get her point across (you can thank the feminists that take things far too far for this kind of attitude).
    In most cases, number 2 is the most relevant but also do be cautious of any signs that may suggest number 1. The best thing to do is to understand each others expectations of conduct with other people. Open a dialogue, talk about what happened and ask why she said what she said and from there you can get to know what she expects from you if and when you talk to or otherwise engage with other women. In other words, know what the boundaries are in your relationship as well as establish some boundaries of your own and that way, you would know when either of you are crossing each others boundaries and learn to avoid this. If she does refuse to engage in this exercise with you (which is very important), then do offer some chances but continual refusal and aggression means that you cannot establish any reasonable dialogue and therefore you cannot continue in the relationship.
    If at any point you feel that your relationship is going nowhere to the extent that you may inclined to cheat, either talk about this openly or break it off as this shows more respect than simply cheating. You should also expect the same if she feels the same way.

  • She's some kind of psychopath or she has psychological problem. Break up with her. Do not think that it is only joke and not something else. At first she tries to manipulate you in a wrong way, she doesn't trust you, she has kind of disorder it is clear. If she does something bad whenever do not be surprised.
    Here are two main signs, if she said it as a joke, she would laugh or at least smile but no, she threatened to you.
    The fact that she apologised you, proves that she did not say it as a joke. Thus she said it seriously but then guessed that it would show you her real face and apologised. She can't manage her anger and she has no empathy. Beware of that girl. Lol seriously. She reached her aim, she managed to scare you. Leave her as soon as possible. If she doesn't commit a crime in future then she will make your life into hell. Seriously i've met girls like that.

    • Do not show her that you were scared. She must think that you are stronger than her. If she guess that you are afraid of her she will use it for her benefits. Show her that you are not afraid of her just do net tell it her. Cause when someone says to you ''I am not afraid of you'' it means that he is afraid of you and tries not to show it by refusing it.

  • Well I think that was the point, she wanted you to feel scared so that you'd never cheat on her, however I don't know if she'd actually do it, but never underestimate the capabilities of some people. Approach it again if you want and tell her thats one way to scare you but she doesn't sound sane LOL.
