Mostly it is due to biology. Evolution (or the creator, whichever you believe) has made the "purpose" of men to spread their genes to as many women as possible, that us why they can still be fertile until they are in their 90's and super horny. Humans have become civilized in recent years so we do not act as much on the premise as much, anymore. Back 10,000+ years ago, you would have 1 man mating with an entire tribe of women.

For around 5 million years humans evolved in an environment that was strictly tribal and hunter/gather, and we have only had "civilization for around 10,000 years, so humans have not had enough time to evolve to cancel out our hunter/gatherer primitive instincts and dna.
