Do you think that the society shows a total disregard for male rape?

When you hear about or speak about a Rape victim, the one thing that comes to everybody's mind is that the victim was a woman and that the perpetrator of the Rape a Man. Yet this thought and mind set is what forces Men who are Raped to remain silent and to never speak about the assault on them. Women who are Rapists and there are many out there, thrive on this control over their victim. The victim may be somebody that they picked up or it may be their partner or husband in life. Irrespective as to who the man is in relation to the woman, NO mean's NO in any language and if a Man doesn't want to have Sexual Intercourse with a woman and she forces herself on to him then that is RAPE. Just as if it was a woman saying No to a Man and he forces himself onto her that is Rape too. And tbh, there is no difference other than the gender as Rape is Rape and society needs to wake up to that fact rather than continue to ignore it and force men to suffer in silence and or sadly end their own lives through suicide, or addiction due to them feeling they must keep this assault secret.

There are those in our society who will ridicule this as they will simply say well if the man doesn't want to have sexual intercourse then why does he have an erection that makes it possible. The answer to this is very simple, he can not control his body's reaction to what is a normal bodily desire under the right circumstances, even if he doesn't want sex he is not always able to control what his body does or how it react's and this is what then is used against him by women who say Men can't be Raped. Well I am telling you that Men can and sadly Men are Raped more often than most would realize in our world. However the fear of ridicule from society, their work colleagues, friends and even some in Law Enforcement is what forces them to suffer in silence.

  • Disclaimer: I'm fully, 100% aware that men can be raped by women. But I do understand why people sometimes question it. Males are generally larger and stronger than females, so the average girl probably couldn't overpower the average guy. That's not to say it's impossible; she would just have needed the aid of drugs, alcohol, or even threats with or without a weapon. Or maybe she was just a very large/powerful woman.

But yeah, those idiots who claim "men want sex all the time anyway, so rape is impossible"/"he had an erection so he must have wanted it"/"lucky guy, I wish I had a woman hold me down and force me to have sex with her." They can all go shove it, because that is such a toxic mindset.

  • Yes and it's heart breaking and sad a man gets raped by a man then people believe it but still victim blame "How did he let it happen" or something else horrible unless it's a child and then it's quickly understood unless the rapist is a woman and then it's high fives and congratulations disregarding the fact that that animal took advantage of a child and had it been reverse the only ones debating would be animals themselves when it comes to men in rape culture they're not given a fair shake not to say it's easy for women but for men people don't think it can happen

  • I don't think that it's totally disregarded, I've seen a lot of PSAs about rape where men were the victims, both in male/male situations and female/male situations but I do think that male rape victims are extremely underrepresented and often aren't taken seriously (not that I really think most rape victims are taken seriously, but men suffer worse from it).

  • In my experience, this has been getting a lot better. True, most people still think of rape as 'a man raping a women', and there isn't much representation for men who have been abused or raped. But, there are a lot more rape and sexual abuse help sites and therapy groups and stuff like that who are now inclusive of men. And we are starting to see a rise in help directed specifically towards men who have been assaulted. But, there are still far more resources and acceptance for women who are victims (which is saying a lot because they don't have much support to begin with either)

  • I think this issue is widely disregarded. In all my 15 years (Ik it's short) of growing up, I've never even heard a story of a man being sexually assaulted. People really like to avoid that topic. It angers me when my parents make me go outside at night instead of my sister to do chores and buy stuff from the market just because technically, I'm less likely to get raped. That kind of talk really hurts me because it feels like my parents care more about my sister.

  • someone I love dearly was raped annd I get so pissed thinking about it because I know no one would help him even if he was willing to prosecute. Ughm i can't talk about it, It makes me so upset

  • Most defiantly. If the victim of rape isn't female, then it doesn't matter.

  • Yes, awfully ignorant about it. Especially feminists.

    • Way to wave your agenda there.. When and why would a feminist deny a rape claim?

    • I meant extreme feminists, not casual.

    • You meant man hating Uber bitches who hide behind the name feminism to be sexist if you ever meet a woman who says something that is degrading twords a man just because he's a man and not due to the person he is you can so clearly tell that bitch (use the word bitch) she's a fucking hypocrite and needs to hop off the tit of feminism because she is what ISIS is to Islam

  • for the most part, probably.

being that, whenever rape is brought up, it's usually in favor of women than men.

    • I don't think rape can favor anyone

  • It's taking very seriously. Last week a guy was raped by policeman (They're not very sure now) and they didn't make it seems not important or anything.
It's female rape who is not taking seriously in my country because 8 complaint on 10 are fake, they just make fun of them unless they can prove it.

  • You're only just realizing this?

    • No, it's been bugging me for a really long time, since I was 14 or 15, I guess. I often heard people making jokes about men getting raped and thought that it was funny, but I thought the opposite... I was upsetted by how people thought that it'd only be something seriously if women were the victim, but not men because men could easily defence themselves and according to them, it'd be so funny if they heard about men rape (like... Wtf, dude?) I remember there's a movie... "Just married", that's the name I think. And in that movie there's a scene where the guy had just gotten raped, but the female main character thought that it was "so funny" that she laughed about it (and no, I'm not blaming the actress lol) and what I'm trying to say that most of the people are being ignorant about male rape just because the victims belonged to the tougher side (men)

  • Yes it happens, but we usually consider that men are strong enough to resist , and that is incorrect

  • Society couldn't give a fuck less about men. The government wants mindless drones to die in useless wars. Women want men to be providers/protectors and use them for labor and resourcses. The only group who cares about men is other men. And even then men fight eacother constantly.

  • Men don't get raped, and those who suffer from PTSD from it are girls. (⌐■_■)

    • Males are raped. When I was three years old the queer who lived next door molested me. When I was 10 three queers raped me in a park. When I was 16 one of the prominent businessmen in the city in which I grew up drugged and raped me. You need to get out more.

    • @cth96190 Okay, men get raped by gays, but not by real women. Or at least it used to be this way. Now i will not be surprised if a guy was raped by a girl and got PTSD from it. Society is upside-down. thanks a lot feminism.

    • I do not know what the numbers might be about rapes that involve female offenders and male victims, but it is not unknown.
See below a link to a rather famous case, in which a British woman paid thugs to abduct a Mormon missionary, who she chained to a bed and raped repeatedly.
