Why are construction workers known for being perverted?

Anyway perverted is kind of a strong word but that's the stereotype. But why? I mean I feel like they would check out a girl whenever one is walking by but nothing too aggressive has really happened to me. Is it because people like that are more likely to end up in that line of work? Or does working under the sun for hours get people horny? what do you'll think?

  • Nope it's the simple fact that as a society as a whole we all have gone soft. Many women nowadays are so sensitive now a person glancing at them for more than a second or accidentally making eye contact is full on rape by today's standards.

Guys are soft too. Hell more and more of us are getting fucked legally by child support (specifically the amount for a child has to be addressed and something needs to be done about the women who use the system to trap many men into paying child support both are major problems where I am located) divorce, and alimony because we let it. We have to see this and start thinking at one point all of this will be echoes from time and nobody will be here to appreciate it. So why give a fuck is the attitude of this generation and we need to change it.

    • Dude you're missing the point. The stereotype has been there since decades ago.

  • A lot (certainly not ALL) of construction workers are working construction because they lack an education or because they have criminal backgrounds and can't get jobs where they have to interact with customers or handle money or otherwise have "professional responsibility."

Once you realize that, it isn't difficult to imagine why SOME (again, certainly not ALL) construction workers would lack class and would leer and cat-call and all of the things the stereotype says.

  • I never heard of it but I guess it's because they only work with men so when they see a girl they would check her out.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • i dont know but i am a firm believer that any man that sees you might end up feeling like a pervert within 5 to 10 seconds =P

    • Smooth

    • @StainedClass i dont need to be smooth lol

  • I worked as a construction worker for a short time and all the stereotypes I've heard were very true. They were the most immature and badly behaving people I've ever met. 95% of the things they talked about revolved around genital areas. Sex, pee and poo humor.

At least in my country it's one of the easiest job you can get. If you couldn't get anywhere else after "high school", you went to vocational school to become a construction worker.

    • What about caulk? As a glazier I hear people crack jokes about working with caulk... White caulk, black caulk and even brown caulk ;)

  • The heavy construction trades are largely exempt from the "political correctness" trend that has castrated many modern men. What you are looking at is not "perverseness" but simply men being men in an atmosphere that doesn't discourage it. And while construction guys have a more raunchy appreciation of women and sex, their (our) appetites tend to be more conventional F&S and not drift into a lot of the kinks that people with too much time on their hands get into.

  • Guys who lack self control will be perverted and make catcalls to females
i think not all construction workers are perverted i think it depends on the guy himself.

  • It used to be true but it's more of a sterotype now that you see in movies but still rings true in some places.

but I mean lets be honest with you were working hard all day and were just chilling by the side walk with your buddies on break and a fine women walked by are you saying you wouldn't check her out or whistle ( if you were a guy )

Or maybe it's just where I live?

    • But what i have noticed usually you would look away when the person caught you checking them out right? Most of the time they don't lol they just keep staring till you're out of their sight

    • Yeah but construction workers aren't like normal people they don't care if you see them lol.

  • Cat calling doesn't make them perverted they're just trying to have some fun after hours of manual labor.

Also I think that stereotype is kinda outdated. Anytime I see construction workers on breaks they just talk with each other they don't do any kind of cat calling.

  • might be affected by lowly educated, they don't have the sense of manner toward ladies, they just merely follow their instinct.

  • I think any man at any kind of job would look at a hot girl walking by don't you think? Its not just construction workers. Besides most girls dress to get attention and love getting attention from guys

    • But then where did the stereotype come from? by the way a lot of us don't dress for the attention from guys. We have too many fashion trends that we love but men don't find attractive lol

    • That comes from like the 80s movies. I work on construction sites I've never seen a guy cat calling a woman

  • It just seems part and parcel of the trade. I think it's more a case of the hours in the Sun might melt there brain cells and sense of self respect rather than just making them horny as you say.
Never met a girl that was " into" that type of behaviour either.

  • higher testosterone levels in men who do lots of physical labour. that's arguably what men should act like.

  • i think they r just bored with their work

  • Guys will check out girls regardless of their profession...
Guys in construction definitely check out girls when one is there cause we work with guys all day!

  • Imagine being a guy and working on a construction site with only men every single day of your work week and then a woman passes by, what do you do? You give her some attention, sometimes this is over compensated for being in a space with only men all the time.

  • they won't get enough pussy!

  • it happens when you work with guys all day long
