Why do some lesbians look like boys?

I first want to make it very clear I'm not against lesbians but I just want to know... Why do some of you make yourself like more masculine? I thought the whole point of being a lesbian was that you liked girls? So why make yourself look more like a man then a women? Sorry I'm trying not to sound judging I'm just wondering if it is a preference thing or do you just not like the idea of girlie things like dresses or long hair and those such things.

Its a very good question and I try my best to avoid getting into those conversations with my gay friends because I don't want to give off the wrong impression.

Based off what I seen and heard from my gay/lesbian friends tend to be the same thing.

In a relationship one is the top (Aka The man/dominant one) While the other is the bottom (Aka the female or the recessive one).

So in this case with females who try to be more like men is because I think its either they absorb that mentality of a guy or they do it to make their lovers satisfied and look at them opposed to other guys.

I know female friends lovers who look exactly like a guy and the only way I was able to figure it out it was a girl is when someone told me. Same goes for girlie guys or twinks in the gay community. Not all gay guys are super girly, most of them act like a straight guy. The girlie guys sometimes even dress up like a girl because I think they begin to become obsessed with the idea of being the female they might also try it out their clothing.

Personally I don't mind or care , but it is rather confusing but its one of those things people just tends to let go.

Well it is pretty stupid but here goes... How do you think someone becomes gay/lesbian as to being straight? Like if someone is born gay how do you think it happens? Sorry it is stupid : /

No its not stupid , but people aren't born gay, they become gay over time through the things they experience and choose to pick either side. If people was born this way then it would be treated as a birth defect/ disease. Its based on their psychology and the choice to find that be more sexually arousing. Its like having the option of having Tea/coffee/ or juice in the morning with your breakfast. Just another preference in choice =)

You really think someone would "choose" to be gay or lesbian? Sure. Be the subject of hatred and discrimination by strangers, be disowned by your family. Big thrills and laughs. Come over to the dark side, Luke. It's something you WANT to do. Uh, no. You wouldn't choose that kind of life. You're born into it and try to make the best of other p eople and their bigotry.

Its not a disease or birth defect or some sort of psychological plague that hops from one person to the next, Its based on their psychology. People choose to be gay, or straight just like you chose to come on this site today or what you had for lunch. I hear that nonsense that people were born this way, if it was there would be a charity/ donation to the aid of helping homosexuals. Just like some people date outside their race, its another form of preference that of course others may not agree

I agree with Ugliness. You might be confusing gay people with bisexual people, who have tendencies to have urges for the same sex. I've talked to a lot of gay people, and since they were old enough to have crushes they've liked the same sex since, and that many of them wished they would be straight, if they could avoid the harassment and discrimination..

No , I'm not confused, Gays choose to be that way because of their Psychology. Your psychology is developed through your childhood experiences and adolescent age views and things you were exposed to. During the things you were exposed to results in either liking what you saw, or not liking what you saw to keep it simple. With that being said , I also have a theory that those who wish to be straight only wish to do so because society pressures them to be like everyone else.

Short answer: because they want to, because their girls like it.

Some girls are into butches, some girls are butches. One finds the other, and everyone's happy. Very simple.

I know some lesbians, "butch-dikes" so to speak, who tell me it's because their mates like them acting like girls but looking like boys. It's the whole change in personality that girls like, and mainly the reason they're lesbians. In other words, they don't really hate the penis they hate the "sh*tty attitudes that are attached to it" they say.

The quick answer is that they are not trying to appeal to men by looking "feminine" - so they don't. So they don't necessarily dress "like women" or wear lipstick, makeup, etc. There's nothing in it for them.
