How long does hookups/FWBs last?

Does it only last for days? weeks? months? I have been hooking up with one guy for more than a year now but we've only had sex 4 times because we don't live in the same city. It started out as a random make out session when we met at a bar over a year ago. I honestly thought I would never have to see him again after I slept with him (I slept with him the second time we went out, not the night we met). But it turned out that we still talk after the first time we had sex so we kept in touch. How long can it last (if neither of us start seeing other people)? Have you ever had a hookup that lasts long?

as long as no one gets attached or clingy, I think it can last a while. you just kind of turn to each other for hookups whenever you want. so you could stop for a while and go back to it. if feelings get involved, that's a good way to cut it short lol I can't personally maintain FWB very long because I always get attached and want commitment.

They last as long as you want them to. I had one last a little over 18 months and only then did it end because I decided to move out of town. There were most definitely feelings there too. I still think about him sometimes

That depends! Could be very short time or last for years.

There is no rule for it. If you really love each other - it will end up in your life long relationship - marriage, and if you find it not fit for that - it may end any time - without any reasons too.
