Overcoming Infertility from PCOS

It should be noted that this isn't a take on how to cure PCOS, because sadly PCOS cannot be cured, but it can be managed to some extent. If you don't know what PCOS stands for it stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (If you would like more info on PCOS you can check out my other take titled "A Crash Course on PCOS--https://www.girlsaskguys.com/sexual-behavior/a26898-a-crash-course-on-pcos )

Many women with PCOS believe that they will never be able to coneceive, and while this sadly may be true for some, it is not true for all women with PCOS! If you have read my other take you will know that my mom has PCOS and was able to have kids. I should say that I also have PCOS and desperately want to be a mom someday so I'm trying to follow my own advice lol. If you'd like to read some other success stories I'll post some links.

Here I'm going to post some tips and whatnot on how to increase fertility with PCOS. It shoudl be noted that a pregnancy is not guranteed but is much more likely! These are in no particluar order.

1. Fertility Drugs

This one is probably the most obvious. You don't have to take fertility drugs while trying to coceive but it does increase your chances. You should know that with fertility drugs you are more likely to fall pregnant with twins or triplets etc.

2. A Proper PCOS Diet

Believe it or not eating a PCOS friendly diet can help your fertility. Many don't realize that eating a PCOS friendly diet can help lower pain and increase your chances of pregnancy. The PCOS diet I follow includes little to no dairy products. Because though you don't have to cut dairy out completely you don't need to consume a lot of it.

3. Exercise

Exercise is an important part of trying to get pregnant with PCOS. The times my mother got pregnant were times where she was being more active than normal and some studies show that being active may increase your fertility by a bit. As well as losing weight. As somebody with PCOS I know how hard losing weight with PCOS can be but that is als helpful.

4. Relaxing

I know this one may seem simple but it really is imprtant. A relaxed woman is much more likely to get pregnant than a woman who is stressing out. I know it may be hard not to stress out when you've been trying to get pregnant for so long and haven't had any luck but taking time to relax is sooo important. The more relaxed you are and the less you worry about it the more likely it is to happen.

Some like to do yoga to help relax and others like to take a hot bubble bath with candles and some just like to veg out on the couch and watch their favorite shows. Whatever you do to relax it is important that you take time to do it.

5. Ovary Drilling.

This one is a bit of an extreme and I wouldn't recommend it unless you feel you have no other choice. It is a surgery. If fertility medications don’t work, your doctor may try a surgery known as “ovarian drilling.” A surgeon inserts a thin needle through the abdomen and destroys a small part of the ovaries to lower the androgens they produce. Research has found that after women undergo this procedure, approximately 80 percent ovulate and 60 percent conceive.

6. Find a Good Doctor!

A good doctor or midwife is invaluable in the “getting pregnant” journey. He or she can be a source of encouragement and of course, knowledge. In my opinion, if your healthcare professional’s first reaction is to get you on fertility drugs as a first step, start looking for another one. Fertility drugs should be used only after trying other methods.

7. Consider using Astroglide TTC

This is a lube made especially for couples trying to conceive. It supports fertility with adjusted pH levels. It’s nice to know that if you need a lubricant, it won’t be impeding conception.

These are just a few things that may help in your pregnancy journey. I wish you all the best of luck. Feel free to share your own stories in the comments! Thanks.
